A letter to Justin Trudeau

Dear Tracy,

The drama of Monday night is still settling in for most of us.

But human rights can't wait. Today we sent an open letter to Prime Minster Designate Justin Trudeau to share our recommendations and to call for strong leadership for human rights in Canada and abroad.

Thank you for always pushing for a Canadian government that defends and respects human rights for all!

An Open Letter to Justin Trudeau

"On behalf of the more than 300,000 Amnesty International supporters in Canada, we're writing to congratulate you on your election victory this week and to share our initial recommendations for what we hope will be a significantly strengthened approach by your government to respecting and upholding human rights, domestically and globally."

A father's urgent plea for his son's life

"Every time I enter and leave my house through our garage, a bicycle in the corner catches my eye, shining brightly. Looking at that bicycle brings back painful memories of my young son Ali Mohammed al-Nimr, who has been sentenced to death and is facing imminent execution in my homeland, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia." From a blog posting by Mohammed al-Nimr

Hundreds of thousands of people around the world are speaking out for Ali al-Nimr, a young activist who faces execution for crimes he allegedly committed when he was 17. The evidence against him? A “confession” under torture.

ONE week left! Send solidarity to women in El Salvador

In El Salvador, where there is a total ban on abortion, women who miscarry or have stillbirths may be accused of abortion or murder, and end up imprisoned for decades. Many face sentences of more than 30 years.

Join us in solidarity with the women jailed in El Salvador after suffering complications with their pregnancies, and demand their immediate release.
