You can help turn lives around

I got this from Food Banks Canada:

Dear Tracy,

A short time ago I sent you an email where I introduced you to Monique,
a 29-year-old mother of four who was doing everything right until she lost
her job and had to choose between giving her kids breakfast and paying
the heating bill.

Monique’s four children are among the 339,451 Canadian children who visited a food bank last month.  They’re the reason why you need to continue reading this email.

Every day, thousands of families like yours see their lives turn upside-down, sometimes overnight. Parents lose their jobs, get sick or simply run out of ways to make ends meet with meagre social assistance benefits, and rising grocery bills and housing costs. The bottom line is this: too many kids are going to school on empty stomachs.

This is a reality today. It doesn’t have to be that way tomorrow. Every day, generous Canadians are helping to reduce hunger in communities across the country. I’m asking you to join us. Please make a donation today to Food Banks Canada. Your gift will not only help feed hungry families; it will help develop and influence policy changes that will help get Monique back on her feet for the future.
Your gift can help turn lives around.
Monique didn’t think she would never set foot inside a food bank. She was wrong. Canadian families from coast-to-coast need your help right now. Eating breakfast or paying the heating bill shouldn’t be a choice. Our families, our children deserve more. Please make your one-time or monthly donation online now or by calling 1-877-535-0958 ext. 239.

I’m happy to report, since visiting her local food bank, Monique has returned to school. She will soon graduate and qualify for a well-paying job with regular hours and more time to spend with her kids. Your gift today will help turn even more lives around.
Eating breakfast or paying the heating bill shouldn’t be a choice. Thank you for helping families when they need it most.

Sincerely,
Katharine Schmidt
