Prevent unlawful drone killing

I got this from Amnesty International:

Dear Tracy,

Sixteen-year-old Abdulrahman Al-Aulaqi was reportedly killed by a drone strike in Yemen in 2011. Abdulrahman was eating at a restaurant with his cousin when they and five others were torn to shreds. Abdulrahman was not accused of any crime.

According to Senator Lindsey Graham1, Abdulrahman is one of an estimated 4,700 human beings who have been killed by drones.

The Obama Administration has tried to justify drone killings by claiming the strikes comply with domestic and international law.

Although international law permits the use of lethal force in very restricted circumstances, U.S. drone strike policy appears to allow unlawful killings, virtually anywhere in the world.

Donate now and support Amnesty's efforts to protect human rights, including by ensuring that the United States' use of lethal force does not violate the right to life.

The Obama Administration has shrouded the drone program in secrecy, but from the scant information made public, it's clear the administration is disregarding the United States' human rights obligations.

Your donation today will help support our efforts to:
  • Investigate and report on drone killings.
  • Pressure government officials -- including newly-confirmed CIA director John Brennan, one of the architects of U.S. drone policy -- to ensure that the U.S. meets its responsibilities to protect human rights and abide by international law.
  • Ensure that the Obama administration publicly discloses secret drone killing memos.
  • Mobilize activists to demand reform.
We must demand answers on the U.S. government's killing in the name of a never-ending and vaguely defined "global war." Stand up for human rights by donating today.

Sincerely,

Zeke Johnson
