Success! Yolanda is now safe

I got this from Amnesty International:

Your actions have saved a life. Yolanda Oquelí, who was shot last month as she returned home from protesting mining operations, has been granted protective measures by the Guatemalan government.
It's because of you, and thousands like you, that Guatemalan authorities took notice and acted for Yolanda.
Yolanda and her family had been living in hiding while Yolanda recovers from her painful injuries. Guatemala has signed an agreement issued by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights to grant protection to Yolanda and her family for the next six months, giving them the essential protection they need right now. The Guatemalan state must also report on the progress they make in investigating the attack on Yolanda’s life.
Your support has been critical in reaching this milestone, and we will continue to demand that the government investigates her attack and that those responsible are brought to justice.
Human rights defenders throughout Guatemala – like Yolanda – live in fear of violence simply for calling for respect for their collective and individual human rights. Your vigilance and support for human rights defenders in Guatemala is so very important.
As we continue to fight for Yolanda, I'd like to invite you to become a special monthly supporter of Amnesty International's work, so we can continue to fight for people like Yolanda. Click here to become a monthly donor today.
I also want you to know that we are translating comments posted on her action, and will send them to Yolanda personally. She is still recovering from the physical and emotional effects of the attack against her. But we know that you have brightened her outlook considerably with your concern and compassion.
Thank you so much.

Sincerely,

Alex Neve
Secretary General
Amnesty International Canada

P.S. Yolanda and her family wouldn't be safe without you standing up for her and taking action on her case. You can continue to help people around the world whose human rights are violated. Become a monthly donor today!
