Stop the bombings: take action for civilians in Sudan

I got this from Amnesty International:

“We can run away from bombs but not from hunger”
These are the dire words of a refugee I met last month during an Amnesty International human rights mission to South Sudan.
The disturbing truth is that more than 500,000 people have been frightened from their homes by bombs raining down on South Sudan. And now they can't escape hunger.

Today, we're releasing the findings of our mission and asking you to add your voice to people around the world calling for the members of UN Security Council to address the human rights and humanitarian situation in southern Sudan, as a matter of urgency.

This is what we're asking for:
  • Condemn indiscriminate aerial bombings by the Government of Sudan in Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile.
  • Demand that the Government of Sudan allow humanitarian organizations immediate and unhindered access to both states.
  • Mandate a full and independent investigation into alleged human rights violations and abuses committed by all parties to the conflict since June 2011.
  • Expand the current arms embargo on Darfur to cover the whole of Sudan.
Please join us in this urgent plea.

Thank you for taking time to extend your hand. The people I met from Sudan need you.

Sincerely,

Alex Neve, Secretary General, Amnesty International Canada
