Put an end to human rights violations in Sudan today

I got this from Amnesty International:

“One minute we were running for safety, then suddenly she was dead.”

Can you imagine watching your own sister struck down in front of your eyes?  Can you imagine bombs exploding around you and your home?
This is what happened to Halima, who I spoke with at Yida refugee camp a few weeks ago while I was in South Sudan for an Amnesty International research mission.  Please help put an end to human rights violations in this troubled region – click here to join Amnesty International today. If you’ve already joined us, thank you.
More than 500,000 people have been forced from their homes since the bombings along the border region began last year.  Yida refugee camp is currently home to more than 20,000 of them, with more arriving each day.  And in the coming weeks, I fear it will only get worse.  Yida is already overcrowded.  But more are arriving every day, rushing to find food and reach safety before the rainy season makes travel impossible.
The people of Sudan need our help.  Can I ask you to join Amnesty International today?  Your support of Amnesty International will help stop the government bombs and protect human rights. To join us today, please click here.
The tragic reality for many people like Halima is they live in constant danger.  And it is the kindness of strangers - often halfway around the world – that will make a difference in her life.
If you haven’t yet made the decision to join Amnesty International, I urge you to take a look at the video message I recorded while in South Sudan here.
It is now one year since fighting broke out in Sudan and Amnesty International is set to release a new report  “We can run away from bombs, but not from hunger” on June 7th concerning Sudan’s refugees in South Sudan.
This research mission and resulting report would simply not be possible without the support of our members.  My recent trip to New York City and Washington to push for more forceful measures to protect human rights in Sudan and South Sudan would also not have been possible.  In fact, without member support, there would be no Amnesty International.  We accept no money from governments for our research or advocacy so we rely entirely on support from people just like you.
Your gift will do so much for the people of this region an all those facing human rights violations around the world. Please join us today.
With best wishes,

Alex Neve

P.S.  As one Sudanese man said: “We can run away from bombs, but we can’t run away from hunger.” The situation in Sudan is worsening every day.  The people there have lived in constant fear for far too long.  Please click here to support this work today.
