Uphold the rights of Indigenous peoples in Canada
Prime Minister Harper will meet with First Nations leaders in Ottawa on Friday to discuss a range of pressing concerns, including issues related to economic development and Treaty implementation.
The meeting comes after more than a month of unprecedented public mobilization sparked by a government legislative agenda which has far reaching impacts on the rights of Indigenous peoples. The mobilization has included demonstrations across Canada under the banner of the grassroots "Idle No More" movement. The mobilization has also included an ongoing hunger strike by Chief Theresa Spence of Attawapiskat.

Please ask Prime Minister Stephen Harper to demonstrate a clear commitment to upholding the rights of Indigenous peoples affirmed in Treaties, and articulated in both domestic and international law.

Thank you for showing your support for Indigenous rights in Canada!
