Women talk about what they lack confidence in.
Lisa lacks confidence since she lost her job in Jan.
"Confidence is more important than competence."
Men overestimate their skills 30% of the time.
Women say: "I was lucky, I was at the right place at the right time."
Be confident, but authentic.
Women are good problem solvers, listeners.
Remind yourself of skills and talents.
Social situations: Ask people about themselves.
There is a confidence quiz:
"Are you enthusiastic about chess?"
"Could there be a World War 3 in 2050?"
It's about how you feel about answers. Psychologists created it.
Katie: Men may lie about some answers to appear more confident?
Kathy: Men write to us about confidence.
Here are some tips:
1. Fail fast- work, leave comfort zone.
2. Kill Nats- don't overthink.
3. Go from me to we- women feel more confident when they do presentations when they say from "I" to "we." It's empowering.
Don't try to be perfect.
Take risks.
Being a perfectionist kills confidence.
Women are 25% more likely to be perfectionists.
Katie: Self-awareness is a start.
Nov. 7, 2019 Ashley Stahl: She is a career coach and worked for the Pentagon.
1. In an interview, you brag by saying: "I am grateful that I can speak 3 languages."
2. Get a testimonial: "My boss always said I was great at....."
"My professor at college said I had a knack for..."
3. Make a quick mention, but not go on too long about it.

Nov. 3, 2019 My English tutor job search: In Oct. 2019 I attended a counseling session with a student counselor (she was studying to get a masters degree in psychology and a registered psychologist supervises her by reading the files.) We brainstormed ways to look for a job and she told me about being an English tutor.
English is my best and favorite subject. I like to read and write. I have a 2 yr college diploma in Professional Writing which is like 95% English. The other 5% is like an elective like psychology.
I mainly get As and Bs in English. You can read my blogs and see that I read and write a lot.
I will say from 2008-Aug. 2014, I was writing 95% of the posts.
From Sept. 2014- present, I was posting news articles which are 95% of the posts.
Here are my writing help ads:

People read it, and no responses on it.
Tutor Tag: I applied and emailed to be a tutor at schools and company websites and job websites. There is this website. I sent my criminal background check to them.
I had gotten that check in the summertime when I got hired at the video production company, that didn't need an admin assistant. I also applied to the hospital food court because they need a background check too. So I did use that background check.

Tracy's school advice: This is a 2011 flashback: I have written about this before. It's about P studying to get a Canadian Securities Course and that he can only take the test twice a year.
Tracy: You should take it once in Jun. and if you don't pass, you can take it 6 months later.
S: You are the last person to be giving school advice.
It's because I am not good in math or science. That's why I'm not tutoring anyone in math or science. I'm only tutoring in English and maybe Social Studies.
Is there anyone here who thought my school advice was bad? If it didn't come from me, and from somebody else, would you still listen to it?

The Simpsons: I also wrote about this and quoted it in 2011.
It's where Homer bowls a perfect game. Then he decides to be a good parent to his kids.
Cut to Lisa doing her homework.
Homer: Lisa honey, do you need help with your homework?
Lisa: Yeah, sure, you can help me find 3 words where they use the letter y as vowel.
Homer slowly backs out of the room.
My opinion: Gym. That's a word where they use the letter y as a vowel.
Nov. 4, 2019 Creative Writing help: Earlier this year, I helped this guy M with this sci-fi storyline. That was a one time meeting with him.
Screenwriters Meetup: In 2014, I then started reading scripts from members in this group. We email our notes to the writer, and/ or meet in person and tell our notes.
I have provided my creative writing help in these cases where I'm not paid. You can also read my TV and movie reviews on my blog, and in the posts, I provide writing tips in it, like:
"There is good writing in it because there is lots of drama, conflict, and tension where the lead character has to solve this important case/ problem."
Filmmakers Meetup: In 2015, I started attending this and there are people from the Screenwriters coming to this too. We mainly talk about TV and movies.
The people in both meetups like screenwriting and filmmaking in various degrees. Some are very passionate about it and actually write and produce their small projects, or some just like to read scripts and give feedback.
Nov. 6, 2019 Tracy's job advice: This is a 2010 flashback. I have written about this before.
S was talking about this job at dinner.
Tracy: You should write a list of the pros and cons.
The next day.
S: "You should write a list of the pros and cons." I'm not going to take career advice from you.
Tracy: "Con: You're setting a bad example for the kids." "Pro: I love you."
I was quoting from The Simpsons where Homer gains 300 pounds so he can work from home.
Marge: Let's write a list of the pros and cons. Con: You're setting a bad example for the kids.
Homer: Pro: I love you.
S's school advice: This is in my "joke flops/ funny and annoying/ funny wedding video" blog post.
Cut to Tracy is 15 and S is 18, and they're walking to school.
S: And if you don't go to college, you might as well be working at retail for the rest of your life.
Tracy: Fine, I'll just go and work at a tire store then.
S laughs for a moment and then regains composure.
S: The point is, to get more than just a job, but a career.
The "tire store" was from the TV show Angel. Wesley was pretending to be Angel and he meets a woman who says: "Maybe I'll run away and work at a tire store."

Job articles: I get all my job advice and knowledge from reading the business section of the newspaper. I have been posting these articles since Jan. 2015. I know I can't exactly prove it, but I have read every article.
All of these are written by CEOs, managers, bosses, people with degrees in business, and then you get all these comments on the articles from regular people who have various degrees and experience.
Nov. 17, 2019: I was putting my brother's resumes from the desktop into a folder on the desktop. I see his resume and cover letters, and they are tailored to the position he's applying for. I remember my friend Angela saying about tailoring your resume.
Well if I apply to a food counter attendant positon, there is a template resume that I will pass to all these restaurants. It would mentions like Food Safety check.
If I apply to a store, there is a sales associate template that will mention my 5 months working at a retail store.
My week:

Jack of Spades comic book launch: However, 2 days later I attended this. It was 1 bus to get there. The writer Chase is from the Filmmaker's Meetup.
Living an Intuitive Life meetup: I attended this on Sat. morning. The woman M from the Self Development book Meetup was there. I met 3 new people. It was average. I tried the hash browns and bagel at the Amber Café and it was good.
Mon. Nov. 18, 2019 Scotiabank Giller Prize: I watched this where they award $100, 000 to the winning author and $10,000 to the other 5 finalists. It was hosted by the singer Jann Arden and Rick Mercer was there for the first few min. It was an average show.
Tues. Nov. 19, 2019 8 yr old girl found alive: She was grabbed by a man while the 8 yr old was with her mother.
Earlier that day, at 6:30 p.m. when the kidnapping was first reported, officers had arrived at a neighborhood tucked into the Fort Worth area. They found the distraught mother and a critical piece of evidence: A man’s doorbell camera had captured the abduction. On the footage, police could see the mother falling onto the street as a car drives away.
“The Ring doorbell video was the only piece of video that was available for this particular case. It was absolutely critical,” said Chris Thompson, a special agent with the FBI’s Crimes Against Children and Human Trafficking Task Force.
Wed. Nov. 20, 2019 Pottery Barn at West Ed Mall is closing down: The last day is Jan. 21, 2020. However, they're selling a lot of their products fast at 30% off.
Kings Fine Jewellery is closing down: I saw ad that the Southgate Centre location is closing.
"Notley kicked out of legislature after comment": Today I found this article in the Star Metro:
EDMONTON— Alberta NDP Opposition Leader Rachel Notley has been kicked out of the legislature chamber after she refused to apologize for comments about the United Conservative government’s plan to fire the province’s election watchdog.
Notley told the house Tuesday that Government House Leader Jason Nixon was making misleading statements on proposed legislation that would end the contract of Lorne Gibson during Gibson’s investigation of UCP fundraising misdeeds.
Legislature members have wide latitude to debate in the house, but rules don’t allow for allegations that one member is deliberately misleading or lying.
When Speaker Nathan Cooper directed Notley to apologize, she refused, saying bigger issues are at stake with Bill 22.
“We see a corrupt act to interfere with an investigation in this house and we must be able to call it what it is,” Notley told Cooper.
“I’ve never seen a threat to this house like Bill 22, not in the province’s history.”
Cooper ejected Notley for the day. She picked up her books and papers and, escorted by the sergeant-at-arms, walked out as colleagues pounded their desks in support.
The desk-pounding itself was another backhanded thumbing of the nose toward Kenney’s government, which has banned this time-honoured noisemaking tradition, calling it undignified.
My opinion: I agree with Notley because the Conservatives are firing Gibson who is investigating the Conservatives. Doesn't that sound corrupt?
Even if you don't like Notley or NDP, she does have a right to an opinion and it's fine if you don't agree with it or find it offensive. She said it plainly and professionally.
This reminds of an old Aug. 2018 blog post I wrote:
My bad teacher comparisons: This is bringing a lot of flashbacks:
Gr. 12 math class (Applied Math 30, 2nd to lowest math class): I wrote about this before. The teacher Mr. Stabile was yelling at this East Indian girl for sleeping in class. He yells at her for 10 sentences, when he could have yelled at her 5 sentences.
Lindsay: Yeah, well you're a jerk.
The whole class says: Ohhhhhh…..
Mr. Stabile yells at her, but she stood her ground. She did not get sent to the office. I had to say he was being a jerk.
Thurs. Nov. 21, 2019 "Hefty transit fines make it 'hard' for low-income riders": Today I found this article by Kashmala Fida in the Star Metro:

Ellen DeGeneres surprises lesbian couple:
Ellen DeGeneres has made a lesbian couple’s engagement even more special after inviting them and some of their loved ones on to her talk show.
Kate Austin appealed to Ellen on Twitter, explaining her parents had refused to attend her wedding to her partner Sarah “because they don’t like that I’m gay”.
In the post, Kate shared sweet pictures of her proposing to Sarah, which took place in front of the Eiffel Tower.
Ellen retweeted the appeal, with the comment “See you tomorrow.”
True to her word, she invited the pair to be in the show’s audience the very next day – and invited them up on stage.
Speaking to Ellen, Kate said her mother had “said everything you could think of under the sun” since she’d come out as gay five years previous, but she had “five brothers and a sister” who were “phenomenal”.
Coming out and “owning it” had allowed her to become her “authentic self”, she added.
Ellen apologised that she could not attend the pair’s wedding, but presented them with a cardboard cut-out of herself in a white suit – complete with a movable arm to proffer tissues.
But this wasn’t the end of the surprise. Telling the couple she had a surprise for them, Ellen directed their attention to a giant present shaped box – which burst open to reveal their friends and family members who did support their relationship.
Then, Sarah proposed to Kate in front of everyone (the opposite way around to the first proposal) in front of everyone.
“There’s no better way to do it than in front of our chosen family and of course, our biggest role model,” said Sarah.
This isn’t the first cute proposal to go high profile this year. During Cannes Film Festival in May, Czech tycoon Milos Kant proposed to his Portuguese reality TV star girlfriend, Margarida Aranha in front of cameras.
Nov. 22, 2019 Star Metro is ending print editions: I saw this in their newspaper on Nov. 20, 2019. The last print edition will be Dec. 20, 2019. I was a little sad and disappointed. I wasn't really surprised as the note said that the readers are going online and a decrease in print advertising. You can sign up on thestar.com/emails to get the news delivered.
"Greta Thunberg, time traveler?": I found this in the National Post in the Edmonton Journal. I'm only interested in it because it's about lookalikes. They do look like each other:
