Mr. Barber School

Jul. 30, 2018 Mr. Barber School: I was looking for a job and I saw this ad.  I then researched it:

Straight Razor Shave


1day - $350

The one day workshop will cover the classic 14 specific stroke facial areas being shaved. The difference in razor positions and stroke, infection control and safe shave practice. This workshop is designed for barbers or hairstylist with little or no experience in straight razor shaves. Students must be a registered apprentice or a Journeyman Hairstylist. A shaving kit is included.
Class time: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm  
Model required - Shave Model at 1:30 pm.

Fade Fundamentals


1day - $250

This one day workshop focuses on the art of fading and tapers. Techniques using the clipper and detail trimmers creating low, medium and High bald fades. This workshop is designed for barbers or hairstylists who like to hone their clipper skills. Your own tools are required for this class, Mr. Barber School offers Barber tool bags which include high quality clippers and trimmers for purchase. Students must be a registered apprentice or a Journeyman Hairstylist.
Class time: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm  
Model required -  Fade Model at 12:30 pm.

Shaves & Fades


2days - $500

This is a two day workshop combining the straight razor shave and Fade Fundamentals workshops for a better valued price. Shaving kit is included. Students must be a registered apprentice or a Journeyman Hairstylist.
Class time: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm  
Model required - Shave Model at 1:30 pm first day, 
Fade Model at 12:30 pm second day.

    Barber Bootcamp

    4days - $895
    The Barber Boot Camp 4 day workshop Designed to help Hairstylist or Barbers better understand the fundamentals of fades, hone your tapers and Straight Razor Shaves. We discuss the Barbering business and promoting male products and Services, we touch on ways to brand yourself. Mr. Barber School also focuses on infection control and safe work practice associated with Barber services.Students must be a registered apprentice or a Journeyman Hairstylist.
    Class time: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm  
    Model required - Shave Model at 1:30 pm first day, Fade Model at 12:30 pm second day.
    We provide you with live models for the remaining two days.

    • The Barber Program

      150 hours - $3,350
      Mr. Barber School offers The Barber Program for those who want to learn the fundamental and latest skills in barbering. The 150 Hour program focuses on techniques for precision shear cuts, clipper cuts, fades, beard trims, Hot Shaves, and other skills that will help you become a highly skilled apprentice barber. During the program students will be introduced to basic concepts and guidelines vital to the Barbering industry. This program is designed for students with little to no experience.

        • Once successfully completing The Barber Program you will leave Mr. Barber School as a registered apprentice with enough confidence and skill to complete a wide range of barber services in a timely fashion.       • Tier 1 - Barber Fundamentals (60 Hours)
        In class workshops using theoretical concepts and practical techniques on mannequins 
          Monday to Friday 9:00am to 3:00pm - Two weeks

        Tier 2 - Barber Internship (90 Hours)
        Hands on Approach, learning on live models provided by Mr. Barber School in campus shop
         A flexible schedule, customized between the hours below:
        Monday to Friday 9:00am to 7:00pm 
        Saturday 9:00am to 5:00pm 
        Sunday 11:00am to 4:00pm 
        *Students have from two weeks up to four weeks to complete the internship.

      • To assist learning, the following resources are provided to each student, Milady Standard Professional Barbering Text, student performances are evaluated in both practical and theory work by means of in-class quizzes and daily practical in-class workshops. A final theory and practical exam is scheduled on the last day of the program. Students are expected to provide a live model for practical exam which entails the following: Taper Haircut, Long Layered Haircut, Fade Haircut, and a Facial Straight Razor Shave.
      • My opinion: I read it and I thought it was kind of boring.  I guess it's because it's male hair cuts.  It seemed interesting with learning a new skill of cutting hair.  However, after I read more into it, I see it's not that interesting.
