130,000 signatures delivered by Raif Badawi's wife

Dear Tracy,
Journalist Peter Greste released in Egypt! Join our call to free Mohamed Fahmy
Imprisoned Australian journalist, Peter Greste, is finally free. Amnesty remains committed to ensuring freedom for his colleagues, Egyptian-Canadian journalist, Mohamed Fahmy and his Egyptian colleague, Baher Mohamed, who were convicted and sentenced simply for reporting the news.

Amnesty International believes they are prisoners of conscience. The Egyptian government should respect freedom of expression and allow journalists to carry out independent reporting into all issues, including criticizing the government, without the threat of intimidation or arrest. Act Now for Mohamed Fahmy

Raif Badawi's wife, Ensaf Haidar, bravely delivers your petition signatures!

Saudi Arabia sentenced blogger Raif Badawi to 1000 lashes, with 50 lashes to be administered every Friday for 20 weeks, for publishing a blog that criticized religious leaders.

But as long as the sentence stands, Raif could be flogged anytime. Raif's wife Ensaf Heider, who has been given refuge with their 3 children in Canada, joined Amnesty on Parliament Hill last week. Ensaf bravely delivered over 130,000 petition signatures to the Saudi Embassy, who accepted the signatures.

Amnesty International members round the world have helped draw international attention to this cruel and unjust sentence, and since the first flogging on Jan 9th the flogging has been postponed for medical reasons. More than 1 million petitions have been signed globally!

Join Miriam to demand justice and end torture in Mexico
survey_300.jpgFour years ago this week, Miriam Isaura López was arbitrarily arrested by Mexican soldiers, who subjected her to electric shocks, near asphyxiation, sexual assault and rape. They wanted her to confess to drug trafficking offences. Miriam was released seven months later without charges.

Miriam courageously filed a formal complaint about what was done to her. Yet nobody has been brought to justice. Join Miriam to demand justice and end torture in Mexico by signing our action!
