This is what rocking out for human rights looks like

I got this from Amnesty International:

This is what rocking out for human rights looks like

Tracy,

Wow! Last night, thousands of music fans and human rights activists came together in Brooklyn for a concert with a conscience - one for the history books.

Madonna introduced our guests of honor, Nadya and Masha -- two former members of Russian feminist art collective Pussy Riot who Amnesty helped free after they were arrested and imprisoned for performing a protest song in Moscow's main orthodox cathedral.

Madonna roared, "It's time for the rest of the world to be as brave as Pussy Riot. Can I get a hell yeah?"

To an arena of shouting fans and activists, Nadya and Masha exclaimed, "Thank you to all of you who wrote letters during those two years. Those letters kept us alive. Thank you to Amnesty International for fighting for freedom. And thank you to all those bold enough to speak out against injustice."

Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons - fresh off a big night at the Grammy's - shouted, "Music is the greatest weapon of the people." Later, the band launched into their percussion-pumped hit Radioactive and brought Brooklyn to its feet.

Sir Bob Geldof - who helped plant the seed for the very first human rights concerts in the 1980's - asked the crowd to "Go home. Get three other guys to join you. And those will get three more. And pretty soon you have political impact."

And that was the point. The concert was much more than a show. It was a starting line. A place and a moment where thousands of people - like you - came together to invigorate each other for the human rights work that lies ahead.

You are part of Amnesty - the most powerful force for human rights in the world. If you haven't yet, please take the next step and become a member. It's the most important way you can fight for human rights each and every day.

We can't wait to see what we can achieve together. Stay tuned for more.

Sincerely,
