Linda Lusk/ InRealLife/ Washington Navy Yard

Sept. 14 Linda Lusk: I don’t know if any of you guys ever noticed this, but the newspapers are thin during the summer.  I would say the same goes for news magazine shows like 20/20.   It’s like they show some old clip for 1 or 2 yrs ago, and then they add a new segment because it’s all one theme.

That’s what 20/20 did last night.  I write down everything as I watch.  On Nov. 11, 2011, they did a segment on her.  Last night they showed that segment for the first 40min of it, and then the last 20 min. was where she is now.

Linda Lusk allegedly had oral sex with a 14 yr old boy.  Lusk was a mayor for a term.  Then she opened a clothing store.  She and the boy Bubba Frank who was daughter’s ex- boyfriend.  Lusk and Bubba were texting each other and it became flirtatious.

One time Bubba came over to her house and he took his pants off.  Lusk stepped out of the room, took a deep breath and said they didn’t do anything sexual.  Bubba says she performed oral sex on him.

Bubba told 3 friends and they told everybody.  Lusk had a physically and mentally challenged son named Taylor.  He had trouble breathing often, and she often had to resuscitate him  Finally, Lusk was at work and wasn’t there to resuscitate him.  Taylor died.  Lusk never got counseling and became depressed and kind of replaced it by taking care of Bubba.

Lusk was charged with child molesting in the 3rd degree.  She took a polygraph test and passed.  She voluntarily went to the police.  Bubba’s mom knows her son is telling the truth.  Lusk’s family was harassed with phone calls and hate mail.  Lusk’s husband Kevin stands by her.  There is the “Alfred Plea” deal which is “I didn’t do it, but there maybe evidence I did it.Lusk went to jail for 90 nights.  She went to work in the day, and slept in jail at night.

Bubba didn’t think he was being taken advantage of.  Lusk registers as a sex offender and can’t attend daughter’s swim meets.  No girls really have contact with Bubba.  Linda and Kevin Lusk want this story on 20/20 to talk about unresolved grief (because after their son Taylor died), and what can happen.

On the Sept. 13, 2013 ep, here’s the update: Lusk crossed the country to see her daughter’s swim meet.  She is always sitting in the car from a distance.  However, since she went over the state lines, it goes against her parole.  She went to jail for 12 days.

Lusk and Kevin have been married for 17 yrs, and 2 yrs after the court allegations, the marriage ended.  Lusk met Adam Casey who saw the 20/20 ep when it first aired 2 yrs ago.  He was 28 yrs old at the time and he felt sorry for her.  They moved 30 min. out of Possertown, Washington where everything happened.  Lusk’s kids love Adam.

There is like 25 yr age difference between Lusk and Adam.  Adam moved 3000 miles away from his ex-wife and 3 yr old daughter to be with Lusk.

Lusk wants to attend her daughter’s graduation, but the school may not allow her.  She says: “Even if I get arrested, I will see my daughter graduate.”

My opinion: Well I think Adam should have arranged a way to be closer to his daughter and not move as far away.  Maybe Lusk could meet him halfway and be 1000 miles away from her kids and he’s 1000 miles away from his kid.

Now onto the actual case: I think Lusk is not guilty.  From the 1hr I saw of her and her interview, I don’t think she is a sex offender.

I hope she does get to see her daughter graduate.  She may get a police escort with her.

Sept. 18 InRealLife: I was reading “A tangled Web” article by Leah McLaren in the Globe and Mail on Sept. 14, 2013.  It discusses the documentary InRealLife by Beeban Kidron and how it’s at the Toronto Film Festival.

It’s very intense.  It’s about how the internet has changed the lives of teens growing up, and it’s not all good.  There are parts about addiction to pornography, and getting so addicted to the internet, you can get kicked out of school.

Sept. 22 Post Secret: I’m going to put this in my news email, because this is like mental health and how it can affect people’s lives.

“I never thanked my brother for telling on me when I was cutting myself.  Thank you. I love you.”

“I told all my friends and family I no longer go to therapy because I am better.  Really, I can no longer afford treatment.  I am very scared.”

Me: I would advise this person that there are free or subsidized counseling that she should look into.  She could call the suicide hotline.  When I went to counseling last year, I was given this hand out like The Family Centre, Alberta Mental Health, and the Catholic Social Services that are free or subsidized.

Washington Navy Yard: I’m sure all of you heard by now about the former Navy reservist Aaron Alexis who killed 12 people in the Washington Navy Yard.  I’ve read about it in Metro and it said he was hearing voices and was undergoing treatment for it.  He had paranoia and a sleeping disorder.

He was being treated in August at the Veteran Affairs.  I was reading in Metro on Sept. 19, 2013, the article said he complained to police that people were talking to him through the walls in his hotel room.
Alexis’s mother said she doesn’t know why he did it and says: “Aaron is now in a place where he can no longer do harm to anyone, and for that I am glad.  To the families of the victims, I am so very sorry that this had happened.  My heart is broken.”

Sept. 23 Ottawa bus crash: I’m sure all of you heard by now about a bus that hit a train.  6 people died, including the driver.

Rehtaeh Parsons: I was reading in Metro that Facebook accidentally used Rehtaeh Parsons picture on their online dating ads.  She committed suicide earlier this year.  At least Facebook apologized.  I know it was not their intention to go and use her picture like that.

UBC donates: I also read that the University of British Columbia who used pro-rape chants, have now donated $250,000 to sexual- abuse counseling and education for students.

Oct. 1 Engagement ring: I found this Yahoo article “Estranged couple squares off over 16k Engagement ring.”

“Charlie Zampieri is suing his ex-fiancée Jessica Bennett to get back the diamond and sapphire ring he gave her.  The couple confronted each other in front of reporters outside a court hearing on Thursday morning.
The pair met on the dating website Plenty of Fish and got engaged three weeks later. They were together for about 20 months.

Zampieri alleges Bennett left him and took the ring with her.  Bennett believes the ring should stay with her and said so in court documents.”

Yahoo comments:

Lead Apron Please: Where is Judge Judy!! I can hear her now ... GIVE THE RING BACK !!! OH! ... my ears...

Susana: My initial reaction was "be a woman and give it back!" But come to think of it, he was stupid enough to spend that on someone he's only been with for 3 weeks. Looks good on ya buddy! Lmao!

My opinion: I think she should give the ring back, because she left him.  Also, I don’t think you should spend that much money on an engagement ring.  I don’t know what is an acceptable amount of money on an engagement ring.  How about $1000?

Even if she is guilty the state has caused more harm to her daughter than she did to that young man.
