Mar. 23, 2024 Call Centre #4: I attended this job interview in Sept. 2019.
I attended a job interview in 2007.
In 2010 I applied and I got hired. I worked there for a day and was let go because I didn't complete enough surveys.
I applied and attended a job interview in 2012. The boss who hired me in 2010, also interviewed me. I don't think he recognized me. He didn't say anything like: "Have you been here before?"
Pros: Now in 2019.
1. I can take 1 or 2 buses to get here.
2. The pay is $15/ hr.
3. The hours part- time, 10- 15hrs a week. They are nights like Thurs., Fri., and Sat. Call centres usually are late afternoons to evenings.
4. I can do the job of calling people to do surveys over the phone.
Cons:
1. This is a mild con that it's a night.
2. There isn't any guarantee of shifts. I have worked at Call Centre #3 in 2009-2010 and Call Centre #6 in 2012, and now in Call Centre #7 since 2021, and there aren't consistent shifts or work.
This was years ago, but my friend Sherry has worked at Call Centre #4 before. She told me for the last 2 months she didn't get any shifts.
My opinion: I didn't get hired and that's okay.
I attended these interviews in Oct. 2019.
Mar. 26, 2024 The Greek Fast Food place:
Pros:
1. It was in the west end. I would take an hour bus to get there.
2. The pay is $15/ hr. There are tips given out every 6 months. There is a free meal on shift.
3. I would be handing payments and working in the front.
Cons:
1. The hours are at night. They close by 9:30 pm.
My opinion: This seems to be an average job.
The Pizza Place:
1. I can take 1 or 2 buses to get there.
2. The hours are 11am- 11pm. I can work in the day time.
3. The pay is $15/ hr. Tips.
4. I can take orders, cleaning, make pizzas, and handle payments.
Cons: None.
My opinion: This was average. This was a new restaurant and they're still open.
Mar. 28, 2024 The Home Installation Place #2:
1. There are 2 buses to get there.
2. The hours are Mon.- Fri. in the day time.
3. The pay is $15/ hr.
Cons:
1. The duties was to be a telemarketer and book appointments. There is an auto-dialer and a script to read. They were to hire 5-8 people.
I have worked as one where I was to sell tickets and magazine ad space over the phone, and was unable to sell.
I have worked for a day at 2 places to book appointments for a free consultation, but was unable to.
The Japanese Full- Service Restaurant: This was a job fair. They were going to open, and we sign in for the interview.
1. This was in the west end and I would take 1 bus and 1 hr to get there.
2. The hours are part- time like 3-4 days a week.
3. I can do the job of working as a busser.
Cons: none.
My opinion: I was neutral about working there.
Mar. 28, 2024 Call Centre #7:
2015: I attended a job interview as an administrative assistant.
I then applied as a call centre rep there.
2018: I attended a job interview as an administrative assistant.
2019: I attended a job interview as an administrative assistant.
2021: I did a phone job interview as a call centre rep and then got hired. I've been working there since then.
Here is the interview I attended on Oct. 2019.
Pros:
1. It was in downtown.
2. The hours are Mon.- Fri. and day time.
3. I can do the duties and use MS Word and Excel. I would have clients and couriers come in.
Cons:
1. The job seems kind of hard.
My opinion: I was neutral about working there.
I attended these interviews in Nov. 2019.
The Charity Organization:
Pros:
1. It was in downtown.
2. The hours are Mon.- Fri. and day time.
3. The duties are to use MS Word and Excel. set up meetings with mugs and water.
Cons:
1. The job seems kind of hard.
My opinion: I was neutral about working there.
The Furniture Store #2: This is a small store that sells more like blankets, pillows, and home and bath goods.
Pros:
1. This was in the west end and I would take 1 bus and 1 hr to get there.
2. This is on the weekends like 15-20 hrs/ week.
3. I can do the job of selling and working the till.
Cons: none.
My opinion: I wasn't that interested in working there.
I attended these in Jan. 2020:
The Massage Therapy Clinic:
Pros:
1. It was 2 buses to get to.
2. I work 3 days a week on the weekdays. The hours are 1:30-6:30pm.
3. The pay is $15/ hr.
4. The duties of a receptionist: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Gmail, booking appointments, answering phones
Cons: none.
My opinion: I would work there.
The Burger Fast Food Place:
Pros:
1. The hours are 1 or 2 weekdays and a Sat.
2. The pay is $15/ hr. There is a 50% off discount on a meal when working.
3. The duties are taking orders and payments, cleaning, and working the drive- thru.
Cons:
1. The place was 2 buses to get there, and one of the buses comes every 30 min.
The buses have changed since then, and it would be hard for me to get there.
My opinion: I was neutral about working there.

Mon. Apr. 22. 2024 "We're still stockpiling reusable bags. Big grocers have adopted solutions, but experts have concerns": Today I found this article by Sophia Harris on CBC:
Canada's plastic bag ban has had an unintended consequence: a proliferation of reusable bags piling up in basements, closets and, eventually, landfills.
"They're everywhere," said environmental researcher Tony Walker. "We're drowning in them, and we shouldn't be."
To combat the problem, several of Canada's big grocers have introduced solutions. Last week, Walmart launched a free national recycling pilot program for the retailer's reusable blue bags. Competitors Sobeys and chains owned by Loblaw Companies Ltd. use recyclable paper bags for grocery delivery.
How it works
According to Walmart, bags in good condition will be laundered and donated to charity, primarily Food Banks Canada. Damaged bags will get recycled into other materials. Reusable bags typically can't go in blue bins because they're costly and difficult to recycle.

Sun. Apr. 21, 2024 Edmonton Make New Friends Group: I was there from 4-5:30pm.
"Looking to make a few friends who want to hang out on the weekends. Just looking for laughs, friendship and conversation!"
I attended this and met some new people:
Holly- the organizer
Alan- he trades some stocks. He's Chinese.
Roswita- she tried to learn about stocks, but thought it was really hard.
I said that was really hard.

Ray- he and Shirley have known each other a long time.

Cindy- she takes care of her.
My opinion: I have seen this on the Meetup website. I then decided to attend it. The rules are:
1. Donate $1 for the Meetup or give pop cans and bottles. I gave pop cans.
2. You have to order 1 thing even if it's a drink, but not water. I had orange juice with grenadine.
Fargo's at Capilano:
The place was easy to get to like 1 bus. I ate some yam fries with dill pickle sauce. The food was average.
This was a positive experience where I met new people. I had fun. I would be open to going there again.
