Arise Work from Home: I wrote about them before:

https://badcb.blogspot.com/2020/03/arise-virtual-solutions-atac-ascension.html

https://www.ariseworkfromhome.com/canada/

Mild con: I want to add that by using their platform, they get $30 from each of your paychecks.  It's because of a fee for the use of the Arise platform.  If you didn't work for a business that's on Arise, then you wouldn't have made that money at all.

You are an independent contractor, and there cases where you have to pay for your own training:

Pro: You can print the receipt and file that as business expenses in your taxes.

Jul. 23, 2020 Automated phone interviews on Indeed: Yesterday I was looking for a work from home job on Indeed.  There is an automated voice that asks the questions, and I answer them on my USB head set and they record the interview.

Contract World: On this work from home job site, you call this number and give your answers on this answering machine.

Job search education: When I look for a job I learn about:

-jobs and careers
-business
-companies
-computer programs

Jul. 24, 2020 My prediction for the future: There will be a lot of people working from home now and it will stay like that in the future like even in 2021.

I was reading in the Globe and Mail website a few months ago about office space.  There may be workers going to work there, but they need to be able to have enough distance from each other.

Be present: I have to live in the day and in the moment.

Don't be angry about the past, and worry about the future.  Prepare for the future.

This week's theme is work from home:

My week:

Jul. 18, 2020 'Stargirl' actress Anjelika Washington says she once confronted producer over stunt double in blackface:

“Flashback to 2017. My 4th job as an actor, my first recurring guest star, and my first time having a stunt double— and they painted her black,” the Stargirl actress wrote.
The 22-year-old went on to share how “uncomfortable” she felt when seeing the double. But when she asked a producer why a Black woman wasn’t cast instead, the producer allegedly told her “we couldn’t find a black stunt double in LA” and told Washington to “be thankful to be here.”
“I immediately started to question myself: ‘Do I sound ungrateful? Am I complaining? Maybe this is just how it is?’ So I said ‘okay,’” Washington wrote. “I sat down in my chair, shut up, and tried to think positive thoughts. (Hence my smile in this photo) But really, I felt powerless, voiceless, and somehow ungrateful.”
In the post, the actress went on to say that it wasn’t the last time that she, as a Black woman, had been made to feel ungrateful while working in the entertainment industry. In fact, she said an emotion that people of color are often made to feel when bringing up similar concerns.

“They do this to us because they know that they *literally* run the show. They feel like a savior for giving a young black girl a role in their show, even though most times it’s just to check a box. They often don’t check to see if we are comfortable with what they are asking of us, they often call us unprofessional or a diva for advocating for ourselves, and most times they get away with paying us wayyy less than our costars,” she wrote. “This is why being inclusive and hiring POC in front of the camera and behind it, is extremely imperative.”
My opinion: I only saw the Stargirl pilot for now.  I see that there may not be a lot of black and black woman stunt doubles available.  I will give her points for asking a producer for one and the producer explaining there wasn't one.

Jul. 22, 2020: How many Asians and Asian women are stunt doubles?  I don't know.
Jul. 20, 2020 I have to find a direction and goal: I always have to be productive and constructive.

EI question: I filed for EI and the question was: "Did you attend school or training?"

I really had to go through my mind:

1. I took that creativity course at edx.org where I watched all the videos.
2. I took a few business classes like watching videos.
3. I researched about being an Independent Business Owner like Amway where you sell the products to your friends and family.
4. I read the business news and I reread my old job articles that I have saved into my emails/ blog posts drafts.

I answered no because I didn't pay for those online classes.  I didn't get certified.

Jul. 21, 2020 "Exposed by son, man fights COVID-19 in Florida hospital":

MIAMI (AP) — For weeks, Michelle Zymet pleaded with her stepson to avoid going out with friends and to always wear a mask.
“It’s just not the time,” the Florida woman says she told him, begging him to think about his dad, who is at a higher risk of severe COVID-19 illness because he is overweight and diabetic.
One evening in early June, the young man went out against her wishes, gathered with friends and removed his mask while eating and drinking. Days later, he felt cold symptoms and a friend at the get-together told him she had tested positive for the new coronavirus. By then, it already had taken hold in the young man's household.
The man's father, John Place, 42, is now fighting the virus at a hospital's intensive care unit.
The illness's spread among members of the Plantation, Florida, family highlights the outcome dreaded by authorities who feared the recent surge of cases hitting younger Floridians would spread to older, more vulnerable people.
“They don’t necessarily listen. It could be peer pressure," said Zymet, 42. "Maybe they think, ‘None of us are sick. We are fine.’ They don’t understand many of us are asymptomatic and are positive carriers of the virus.”

A while ago i read about a father telling his son NOT to go to Florida for Spring Break. The kid didnt listen and when he came back his father wouldnt let him in the house. Sure enough he tested positive a week later.

She wasn't placing blame on her stepson, she is simply telling others what happened so other young people get it through their heads the danger they r putting their families and other high risk individuals in by going out and not wearing masks.. she is being a GOOD mom by telling their story to try to prevent this tragedy happening to others.. those who say otherwise r part of the problem

https://ca.yahoo.com/news/exposed-son-man-fights-covid-191258861.html

My opinion: That's scary.  I put this on Facebook status update, and I FB message to some friends about this.  I was going to meet my friend and have a meal, but this article scared me because you have to take off your mask to eat and drink.

Jul. 22, 2020 A little Hippie, a little Hood: I found this on Facebook:

Image may contain: text that says 'I know 2020 has been traumatic and scary in so many ways but... has anyone been like "this isn't even my worst year, personally"'

My opinion: I was comparing 2020 to 2019, and I have to say this year is an improvement than last.  In 2019, I wasn't working very much (though I was constantly looking for a job) and I made half of what I usually make in a year.  In Aug. 2019, I got hired back at my 2nd restaurant job as PT.  This year I got EI.

Blog goal: You don't know this, but I have posted 16 Work from Home blog posts I created this year.  My goal is to publish all my old news articles blog posts.

Jul. 23, 2020 Mysteries: Decoded: I saw this episode I recorded last year.  It's called "Vampires of New Orleans."  Good research and interviews.  I wrote notes and may write about this on my blog later.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10207668/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

FBI: I series recorded this show and I recorded the season 2 ep "American Dreams" on Global.  They aired ET Canada instead.  I then went to Telus on Demand to watch the ep, all they have all the eps except that one.

I signed up for CBS: All Access where you can watch the 1st month for free.  They only have season 1.

Jul. 24, 2020 Blindspot series finale: I just saw the season 5 finale/ series finale today.  This is the 100th episode.  This was really good.  There were so many old characters that came in for the last ep.

They created this 50/ 50 Rorschach test ending.  Half of the audience will think there is a happy ending, and the other half will think it's a sad ending.

I will choose the happy ending.  I have seen a lot of series finales that were pretty good like:

Buffy,
Angel (that was a bit of cliffhanger ending)
Alias
Desperate Housewives
The Vampire Diaries

This year:

Arrow
Criminal Minds
Cardinal
God Friended Me
