Mar. 24, 2019: I want to improve my skills on how to get an administrative assistant job, so I'm researching college programs.
Before I can apply to CCTO110 - Sage 50 Accounting Level I,
I have to be in this course:
Applied Bookkeeping Certificate
Overview
This certificate is for those who wish to become educated in business bookkeeping. A bookkeeper is responsible for the financial transactions that occur daily in a business, including: verification of Source Documents; billings to/payments from customers; invoices from/payments to suppliers; processing employees’ payroll; Remittances to governing bodies; Account Reconciliations; generating financial reports; and other tasks involved in running a company. It requires the knowledge of Debits and Credits, an understanding of financial accounting, and an organized, detail-oriented individual who can keep accurate, up-to-date records which are vital to the well-being of any business.
The application of the material in this certificate program will play a vital role in students gaining knowledge in the theory behind computerized accounting software. The program begins with an introduction to bookkeeping by studying one company’s financial activities, and concludes in the CCTO302 – Bookkeeping Advanced course with a project involving the same company. This project is a Case Study which students will be required to complete on their own. Students must achieve 80% or more as a final mark on this Case Study in order to pass the CCTO302 course and receive this certificate.
The curriculum is delivered by an instructor and training manuals are provided in each of the core courses. This program is hands-on learning, and students will need to successfully complete all of the required tasks in the time frame allotted for each course in order to obtain a passing grade. Instructions for each task will be covered during the courses, and the marking structure will be included in each course outline. Students will be required to bring their own calculator.
Certification
An Applied Bookkeeping Certificate will be awarded to students upon successful completion of the five core courses
