"Local matchmaking service customers are calling a waste of money"/ It's Just Lunch reviews (Part 3)

Jun. 27, 2022: I found some articles about It's Just Lunch being a scam:

Feb. 15, 2021 "Local matchmaking service customers are calling a waste of money": Today I found this article by Jennifer Kovaleski on the Denver Channel:

DENVER -- Elizabeth Young first saw ads for It’s Just Lunch in airplane magazines.

After not having luck with other online dating apps, Young, a 41-year-old school counselor, said she decided to write a check to It’s Just Lunch Denver. It cost Young $2,700 for a lifetime membership and then a fee of roughly $90 per month.

The dating service sells itself as an elite international matching service that has offices across the country, including in Denver.

“What they say is ‘It’s Just Lunch is the world’s No. 1 personal matchmaking service. It’s personal, it’s private, it’s convenient, it’s real.’ They just forgot it’s a scam,” said Young, while reading the company’s website.

She saw the purchase as a major investment with the promise of handpicked dates. Young said the salesperson told her over the phone that she would have a few dates per month.

Young said she was told, “We have so many great men I can’t wait for you to meet."

"I had this expectation and this excitement of meeting quality people who also invested what I did," she said.

Young is one of two It’s Just Lunch customers who spoke with Denver7, saying the company did not meet expectations. They’re not alone, as the company has already settled one class action lawsuit and faces another.

Class action lawsuit filed against the company

John Balestriere is a New York-based attorney who filed a class-action lawsuit against It’s Just Lunch and won. He said Young’s story matches what his firm has heard from other clients.

“A common trick they were taught was to be speaking to someone and at some point just turn over the clipboard and say, ‘I’m sorry, I just have to stop you. I have three people who would be just perfect for you.’ The idea of kind of luring people in,” Balestriere said.

As a part of the lawsuit and settlement agreement, It’s Just Lunch agreed to pay nearly $5 million to impacted clients. The average customer received around $14. The law firm was also paid a fee of $1.5 million.

“People who are signing up are busy and they have disposable income. They are very vulnerable,” Balestriere said.

The lawsuit called the dating service “a massive scheme to defraud tens of thousands of single professionals throughout the country.” It claimed the company, “overcharged its clients” and “matches are driven entirely by monthly quota requirements.”

Balestriere said the most shocking thing his firm found was that in some cases, It’s Just Lunch employees went on dates with female customers so that they “could at least have a date with a man.”

He said the company trains its employees to make the sale, and the lawsuit states the company “[r]outinely hires staff … who have no experience … whatsoever in the field of matchmaking.”

The suit resulted in a settlement in late 2019.

“We frankly thought that was the end of it,” Balestriere said.

But it would end up being far from the end.

“This is the worst financial decision I’ve ever made,” Young said.

Young was not a part of the settlement agreement. She said instead of getting the few dates per month the company verbally promised, she had four dates over three months.

“So, mathematically, that’s $3,000 for four dates,” she said.

And while Young does acknowledge the contract she signed only promised her one date per month, she said she believed what It’s Just Lunch was selling.

“I believe that the company really preys on people who — like me, in the Denver area, especially during a pandemic — really want connection,” Young said.

Another Denver client tells a similar story

Joseph DeOliveira said he had a similar experience with the company. He was a single father also looking for love who said he fell for It’s Just Lunch’s sales pitch.

“It was basically a waste of money and waste of time,” DeOliveira said. “They told me that I was going to have multiple matches a month and that I was going to find people that were committed to a relationship.”

Instead, DeOliveira said he received “one or two dates for the thousands of dollars that I put in and it wasn’t consistent.”

He said his matches weren’t matches at all, and the women he went out with had nothing in common with him.

“There were so many good reviews, I thought it was a good company,” DeOliveira said.

Young said she also believed those reviews and everything else she read.

Both now question the accuracy of those good reviews and want to warn others trying to find love.

“They are going to continue to scam people until they are brought to light,” DeOliveira said.

Law firm files another lawsuit against the company

After Balestriere’s firm settled in the original class-action lawsuit, the firm said new It’s Just Lunch clients started reaching out to them with the same complaints.

“It’s Just Lunch is continuing to engage in very similar sounding misconduct,” Balestriere said.

The firm filed another class-action lawsuit against the company in November 2020, this time in California.

The suit claims It’s Just Lunch “continues to engage in similar misconduct” the original suit was supposed to stop.

“I’ve been a lawyer and doing this stuff for over 20 years and I don’t think I’ve ever seen it,” Balestriere said.

“They took advantage of people wanting a real relationship,” said DeOliveira.

It’s Just Lunch responds

It’s Just Lunch Denver declined Denver7’s request for an interview.

In a lengthy statement, the company said, “The new claims in the California lawsuit are brought by two individuals. It is very disappointing and unfortunate that this matter is pending because these allegations are completely without merit. IJL intends to vigorously defend the new suit.”

It’s Just Lunch Denver is a franchise of the company and said, “The satisfaction of our clients has been our number one priority” and that the company “cannot guarantee chemistry, long-term relationship or marriage.”

In It’s Just Lunch Denver’s statement, the company said DeOliveira “called our Denver office on February 10, 2021 requesting to continue his membership.”

DeOliveira confirmed to Denver7 he did reach out to the company but said in an email, “My only purpose was to inquire and confirm the facts I gave you in the interview and to express my displeasure with the service I was provided and to give them a chance to make it right.”

He went on to say, “I stand by what I said 100% that I believe IJL is a scam and I will not retract that statement unless I am proven wrong by their actions.”

How Much Does It’s Just Lunch Cost?   Why You Should Save Your Money!

Have you heard about It’s Just Lunch?

Perhaps you’ve seen their ads in inflight magazine advertisements, or heard about It’s Just Lunch on the radio.  The concept is kind of catchy right?  Meet up for a casual lunch with your ideal match, and get to know that person with in a low pressure environment.  Sounds great right?  Well, not exactly.

How much does It’s Just Lunch actually cost?

Google around and you will quickly find that It’s Just Lunch charges several thousand dollars for a basic package.  They will also try to up-sell you on larger packages that run closer to ten thousand dollars.  At those prices, each date will amount to well over a thousand dollars.

Okay, the money matchmakers charge is insane, but the dates must be great right?

Screen Shot 2020-01-06 at 5.52.57 PM

Yep, you read that photo correctly.  It’s Just Lunch had a class action lawsuit filed against them in 2018 as a response to their deceiving tactics.   The result was a $60 million dollar settlement.  Think about how many people this company deceived over the years to warrant a settlement of that magnitude.  Even more alarming, this company still operates and does great business.

A quick Google search will also yield dozens of different Yelp pages for the company, all dominated by negative feedback.  Typical of most matchmaking companies, the most common complaints seem to be very few dates, terrible matches, and a vast amount of reviews claiming that the company is a scam.  With how much matchmakers charge, there is no excuse for this.

Here’s the truth about most matchmaking companies

Traditional matchmaking companies are outdated mediums that rarely have the matches that they promise clients upfront.  They are almost always bait and switch operations.   The truth is, almost everyone is meeting on dating sites or dating APPS these days.   This is where you will have your best chance of finding love once you equip yourself with the right approach.

Our company combines traditional matchmaking with the modern world of online dating

Here at Next Evolution Matchmaking, we are not a traditional matchmaking company.  We combine outdated and traditional matchmaking methods that no longer work, with the modern world of online dating, for results that are truly successful.  In fact, our average clients find what they are looking for approximately two months into their memberships.  Whether you’ve been burnt by a matchmaker in the past or are currently checking out your options, we’d love to show you how our methods differ.  To learn more about our process, click here now.

My opinion: After reading these negative articles and a whole slew of negative reviews on the Internet with all of them saying that it's a scam because you pay thousands of dollars and:

1. Only get a few dates (or none) and some that stand you up.

2. Bad matches who don't fit your criteria of what you're looking for in a partner.

3. Bad customer service and matchmakers who hardly return your calls or emails.

4. Class action law suits from one in California and New York.

Most of these reviews are dated recently like 2020-2021.  Some are in the US and these are American's reviews.  However, there are so many bad reviews from years ago.

Do you really think the Canadian locations are going to be different and not a scam?

Don't go to It's Just Lunch.

My week:

Mon. Jul. 25, 2022 K- Days: The last time I was there was in 2014.  I went here as soon as it opened at 12pm.

1. Agriculture- I petted the cows and the sheep.

2. Indigenous- I went shopping and saw jewelry, bags, clothes, chap sticks, soap, and candles.

3. Kids Zone- I looked at the pythons, turtles, and tarantulas in the cases.

There was an art display with kids and adults who won prizes for their art like drawings, painting, and sculptures.

I mainly went there for the shopping: There were  jewelry, bags, clothes, chap sticks, soap, notebooks, cards, candles, and paintings.

There were 2 psychic booths, but I didn't get a reading.

I didn't really spend any money, but $8 for a corndog.

I did some research and planned to attend the shows.

Joshua Seth: He is a mentalist.  He is able to guess what word and number was written down. He guesses the last 2 numbers.  At first he writes a whole slew of numbers 4x4, and if you add each of the rows up and down, it all comes to the right last 2 numbers.

I thought the show was average.  This was 45 min. long.

Ride the Vibe: This was a dirt bike show and I saw the last 15 minutes of these bike riders doing upside flips and jumps.  That was average.

Super Dawgs: This is a 30 min. show.  A dog can listen to orders in English, another in French, and another in hand movements.  A dog can stand on tippy toes and spin around right and left.  This was good.

Overall the day was average.  I was there from 12pm- 5:20pm.  I brought my own thermos of coffee, a bottle of water, and a No Name can of dill pickle chips.  I wanted to save money on food and drinks.

I'm sure some of you would go there for the food.  When I was a kid and teen, I would go there for the rides and shopping.  I never play the games.

Clue at the Citadel: I saw an ad for this at the LRT station.  I have the movie Clue on DVD.  I entered to win tickets to see the show.  Here is a positive review by Tom Murray in the Edmonton Journal:

Jul. 27, 2022 "Shawn Mendes cancels the rest of world tour for mental health break": Today I found this article by Jenna Benchetrit on CBC:

Canadian pop star Shawn Mendes has cancelled the rest of his Wonder world tour to care for his mental health, the singer announced in an Instagram post on Wednesday.

"After speaking more with my team and working with an incredible group of health professionals, it has become more clear that I need to take the time I've never taken personally to ground myself and come back stronger," the 23-year-old singer wrote.

"I unfortunately have to cancel the rest of the tour dates in North America, and the UK/Europe."

Earlier this month, Mendes told fans that he would be taking a three-week break from the tour, postponing a string of shows in the U.S., saying that he had "hit a breaking point" after touring steadily since he was 15.

The singer has long been open about his mental health struggles and has said that he hopes his honesty helps and empowers others.

In 2018, he told Tom Power, host of CBC's q, about writing music to cope with anxiety.

"The only way progression is going to happen is by talking about it and by allowing everybody to talk about it," Mendes said. "It just becomes more of a normal thing, and hopefully in 10 years from now, nobody is really worried about it."

My opinion: That's good that he's taking care of himself physically and mentally.  There are people reading this and they will do the same.

Jul. 29, 2022 Art Gallery of Alberta: I haven't been there since 2010.  In my Personality Meetup group Whatsapp chat, someone said that you can go there for free on the last Thurs. of every month from 4-7pm.  I went there for an hour.

It was average.  There are like 4 exhibits that show films.  I watched a bit of it.  I was looking at the art, and who the artist.

Hours and Admissions | Art Gallery of Alberta (youraga.ca)

Tim Horton's: Afterward I went to try those 3 new donuts and use the rest of my giftcard.

The Birthday Cake Confetti was really good.

The Reeses's Peanut Butter Cheesecake was average.  I don't really like peanut butter.  The cheesecake was in the donut like a jelly.

S'mores was good.  There's chocolate inside it.

After years of stopping the service, I still continue to receive non-stop calls almost every week. I have verbally told them I am no longer interested in the service and to please remove me from their call list. But I still continue to get very bland calls where they don't even say their name or reason for calling, just that there is something interesting in the area. This scummy company doesn't care about what you want, they will continue to harass you with phone calls for their own benefit. Don't waste your time.

Experience with It's Just Lunch

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! I wish I could go back in time and save myself the grief and the $1,000. Not a single date and the potential “matches” met none of my specifications.

Matchmakers were not interested in getting to know my desired qualities in a mate. What’s worse, I finally did get a “match” and he stood me up 20 minutes before the date was to begin. They clearly do not vet their potential matches. After I reached out about getting more appropriate matches- including ones that met at least ONE of my desired qualities and would actually attend a date- they claimed it wasn’t their problem.

They then denied a refund based upon the “date” who stood me up. Eva, the intake employee, is very kind and bubbly but from there it went downhill. I worked with Vanessa who had no concern for my desires. After the 3 month period was up, I spoke with Melissa, who was even less concerned about the results and only cared about retaining the money. I am upset with their overall treatment, lack of care, and refusal to refund the money owed back to me as outlines in the contract. As much as I want to support a woman-owned business, IJL is a pure scam. After being taken for a thousand dollars and dealing with incompetent employees who call themselves matchmakers, I will ensure I disseminate my experience to everyone considering working with this fictitious matchmaking service.

Misled and Disappointed

I feel really misled having signed up for this service.

When signing up, I was fed all these hopes of there being young professional men who are ready to pursue a partner, even in this pandemic! Every date was exhausting and even after lots of feedback given to my matchmaking team, there was nowhere near a connection.

If you're a professional young woman, I'd say to save your money and just hang on until a better service comes around. They charge $1800 just to join, and then $98/month for membership. They'll paint a pretty picture of how you can put your membership on hold at any time if you think you've found a connection or need a break, but what they don't mention is that it still costs $28/month to NOT use your membership and let your file sit on a computer in an office somewhere.

Plus, if you try to change the status of your membership or cancel your membership and miss the cutoff you still get charged for the entire month. Watch out, y'all, there are ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS. That's a lot of money to risk and say goodbye to.

On top of the financial issues, I felt like all of the feedback I was giving to my team was being ignored. Despite being explicit in my priorities when finding a partner, I would find out during the dates that these wishes were all but ignored.

Perhaps the questionnaire they use leads people to answer in what they think will be a favorable way, but from the summaries that they give you as an introduction before the date to the actual date themselves, it's hard not to feel misled. Part of me feels like they ask for feedback just to make the clients feel like they're being heard when they're not.

Even if all the dates hadn't been virtual, I think I would've suffered equally, if not more, during in-person dates. At least when you're at home you can call it a night and just shut down your computer.

I can't imagine being in a restaurant actually having a meal with some of these men and being stuck waiting for the check with nothing more to say or ask. I didn't think finding someone would continue to be so difficult and frustrating when I was paying so much to have a team search for me. Very disappointed and frustrated that I took a chance on this service.

Was lead to believe I would be seeing several quality candidates with similar interests - until I paid them. I've been a professional job recruiter for many years. I know a thorough screening process when I see one, and it's not here. They try to get you to agree to random dates without seeing any profile photos. When you request a photo, they may have one head shot to offer at best. T

hey would call to present a candidate and tell me they found a great match, "they like wine, live music, and the outdoors". That would be the extent of their matching criteria. For $4,500 I expect more than that. They just try to get you to agree to random dates, hoping something will click. I paid them so I could stop going on random dates and find gals with similar interests & beliefs other than wine and music. If you're looking for a thorough screening process, go somewhere else! If you're looking for random dates and don't care about physical attraction, like beliefs and interests, these are the guys.

I am so disappointed in IJL. They are master sales people, everything sounds too good to be true, because it is. I was told a minimum of 6 dates, BUT, it was more likely I would have more each month. I've had a total of 3 since April. The first date was the complete opposite of the information I had given my "match maker". They say the "client base if vast". Not true. If it were, I would have more dates. I was called by some who wanted me to pay more money (like $4100 wasn't enough already), for the "select" group.

When you question why each date takes so long, I got a b.s. answer of we want to be select, it takes three weeks to find someone in the data base that fits a basic description??? I wish I had checked this site and yelp first. Every story is the same.

Not listening to your needs, One lousy date per month. $683 per virtual date? SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!

Doesn't Covid make it much harder for IJL to find dates though?

I used IJL a few years ago and was planning to again soon once the pandemic gets it bit better. I recently broke up with my partner and want to meet some new people instead of trying to meet someone through friends.

I signed up November 1 2019.
I had one date in November , but he canceled .
I argued that my contract was not honored .

Then two dates in December, both at restaurants an hour away . The cuisine was not my taste. I got a little tongue lashed when questioned the reason for these scenarios.
Needless to say, the dates were disappointing .

I solicited their services and paid, hoping for quality service, according to the stipulations of the contract, and for them to deliver what they claim. The first month, August 2019, every time I called I had to speak with "your new matchmaker".

They first found a match that I also met on Elite Singles, so that failed, then they found other 2 matches who did not meet my main criteria of men who have been married and were parents.

After August I have not heard from them at all; called, left messages, e-mailed, no reply whatsoever. Finally on Dec 13 2019 I get an email from Debbie stating they are still looking since they wish to be "very selective". I told her about all the messages I left, and also informed her of my new, serious relationship I found on my own.

She congratulated me, to then state they do not refund, but will put my membership on hold, and "hopefully soon" I'll need their services again????!!!! Her reply is appalling and completely unprofessional, much less smart or even human.

I asked to speak with her manager and she said she'd rather speak in person, why don't I give her a call - I then replied I did call her and left a VM with my number, which obviously she was not even aware of..or chose to ignore.

If you're thinking of joining It's Just Lunch, please read:

Before I signed up for It's Just Lunch, I read reviews, some of which were really terrible. But, I thought, 'Hey, I'm successful and relatively good looking, so will likely have a much better experience than that.' I was very mistaken. This has been the most humiliating dating experience I've ever had.

Things you should know before you join:
YOU GO ON BLIND DATES.
THE MATCHING PROCESS IS TERRIBLE.
IT'S A WASTE OF MONEY.

I paid $3200, PLUS $99 per month. In 9 months I had just 11 dates.
I was not attracted to these dates, and I had little in common with them. One date was 16 years older than me!

I was told there were lots of men in my area and if I had to travel the date would meet me half way. But, at times I would drive 1-1.5 hours and my dates would drive 5-15 minutes.

After a couple months I was called by a service called Elite Singles (a subsidiary of IJL) who said there was a lot of positive feedback from my dates and recommended I move to their service. The Elite Singles service offered to go out to social events and find men for me to date. They sent me pictures of multiple very good looking and successful men that I could meet through Elite Singles.

The price for Elite Singles? $30,000. Yes, you read that correctly - $30,000. I'm left with the conclusion this was a total scam - $4,000 for a completely humiliating dating experience. For a mere $26,000 more, I could get what I thought I was getting with It's Just Lunch.
I write this review to try to save others money and a miserable experience.

So not true. I was a participant for IJL - then I became a client and then I found my special someone. That is not at all what you sign. There is no agreement that states you won't say you are a non-paying member. It's about upholding the IJL standard. I have to assume the reviews on this site are not from verified clients of IJL as there is a ton of false and misleading information on this site. I asked a ton of questions and gave serious and honest feedback. It took a while but they listened and found me a wonderful person!

I am a client and I couldn't agree with you more. There is a ton of bad information on here. I think some people think there is a magic wand even though what they've been doing didn't work. I have worked hard to provide feedback and every date hasn't been great but has gotten better each time. Chemistry is the key and I'm confident I will continue to have a great time and the potential is definitely there to meet someone I have chemistry with. I am definitely meeting REAL people and no longer fighting through any dating websites full of scammers and hookups.

It's Just Lunch Experience

Authored by: Anonymous (Anonymous User) on Saturday, May 18 2019 @ 01:14 pm
I decided to spend the money on myself with IJL to obtain quality. What I have gotten from IJL is way more humiliating depressing and disheartening than anything I experienced for $40 a month online. In fact it is so bad I'm actually going to therapy

I signed up early November, first Matchmaker ended up yelling at me. Received another Matchmaker without any apology for what happened. My first date end of December. ER physician. Liked him a lot went on two dates and then was told he was not looking for a relationship and he sent me a really rude picture of himself. Depressing and humiliating.

Next date February. Walked around restaurant for an hour with people staring at me. Restaurant did not know anything about IJL date. He never showed up. Couldn't be reached. More depressing and humiliating. Keep in mind these dates are more than an hour away from my house, close to where they are in Orlando.

Sent several emails and calls to second Matchmaker and finally called corporate headquarters to discover that she was not in the Orlando market anymore. Finally got a email from new Matchmaker. Next match sent to me was 5"6" gentleman. Told Matchmaker I did not I think it was a good match because in none of his pictures was he smiling at all and I am a person who smiles all the time. She assured me that he was actually a very fun guy and that I should go. Date was set today, middle of May almost three months after the last date didn't show. Date set for 1:30. I told Matchmaker that friends wanted to go to Universal, if date could be earlier would be great, if not I would cancel my plans. Matchmaker said I should cancel my plans, so I did.

Today went to restaurant an hour away and no one showed up. No one called. I am beyond humiliated and upset and depressed.
How in the world do you stay in business? I have gone into this with palms up and made myself very vulnerable which is not easy for a physician. In return I have gotten nothing but humiliation and depression and no one seems to help

It's Just Lunch Dates Suck

Highly disappointed in this site- the "dates" they set you up with don't match the profile presented, their customer service response time is poor. I had heard positive things from other success stories, but that is definitely not the case. When asked to negotiate an additional date based on the last match lied on his profile (he reported business manager and he was actually hourly construction worker), they said I was introduced so it counts. They were misleading and did not offer to clarify the information.

Don't spend the money on them.

It's Just Lunch Review (ItsJustLunch.com) FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP CALLING ME

I signed up for IJL six years ago, I never even paid any money. I just filled out the paperwork and then decided against it after hearing the cost. Early on they called me daily no matter what I said and the calls never stopped. I spoke to someone last year and told them I was engaged and not interested and the calls started again this week, every freaking day. I don't know if they reactivate their dating data base or what happens. But at least 10 calls a year. And i block the number and they call from another one. If I called someone that many times and they told me they were not interested and did not respond I would stop. Why do you keep calling? Don't give them your info.

If there was a rating of zero stars, then I would have chosen that.I wish I would have seen all of the local South Florida reviews on Yelp before I joined.
They are all correct! I believe they don't have sufficient candidates (victims) to set you up with. They don't listen to your interests and will set you up with whoever they want. I gave them a list of pros/cons.
One of my main deal breakers is distance. I wished to date someone within 10/15 miles, yet they set me up on a date that was 40 miles away. They don't have anyone in Miami?!? It's been nearly a year, and I have only been on one date within the first month.
They keep passing me along to different dating directors. Don't waste your money, time, nor hopes. They will not refund your money even though they cannot meet the description of their services. Run!!!
Run away quickly!!!!
I strongly advise anyone who is thinking of joining this dating service to do your due diligence and check other websites ie. better business bureau, attorney general's office & yelp for honest reviews.

Awful awful. They told me that they had a new model. That I would be give profiles of men who matched with me. Men would also have profiles. Would not be just random dates with people you don't match with. So they show me a profile of a guy with zero information about him. I asked if he had seen my profile and they said no. He was willing to be matched with anyone. That is not what I purchased. After 4 months and not one match I ask how much the membership for just random dates. You don't see profiles and they don't see profiles. She said the same cost. Liars. I am turning them into the TEXAS AG OFFICE.

Do NOT fall for this! I was promised four dates in six months. The first three dates stood me up. The fourth was obviously not interested in being on this date. This is a cash cow for the company and the employees are unprofessional and untrained. They are clearly not matchmakers at all. Join at your own risk and loss of your money.

Awful, awful experience. I would never suggest using this company. I'm an attractive outgoing woman who likes to hunt, fish, vacation, cook, etc. I didn't think this should be too difficult for them. The 2 years I have been with this company I've had the worst dates ever! I live in a major city and 95% of the dates they had chosen for me live atleast 2+ hours away. I had informed them many times I do not want to go on a date with somebody that far away nor do I want to date a person with children. I absolutely love kids!! But I'm not ready for them in my life right now. They never paid any attention to what I had asked for and would continue to set me up with men with children who lived 2+ hours away. Very frustrating. That was a huge issue for me.

Also, of the dates, very rarely did I have anything in common with them. Going to meet them out was honestly a chore. Some of them literally just stared at me (no lie) and a couple who actually did engage in conversation I found out we really had nothing in common and were clearly not a good match. One "match" actually sent me half naked pictures of himself the following day so I wouldn't forget what he looked like.

I'm not quite sure how we were placed. It was as if they just picked men at random and gave no thought to who I was matched with. I paid how much money for this service?! Many times at the dates I would pay the full bill just to get out of there.

I told the dating coordinator each time how these matches were not good and it seemed they didn't have anybody in my area for me and I wanted to quit.
She would tell me time and time again they would find me a good date.

It finally got to the point in these dates that I think the dating coordinator realized the dates were actually quite awful. And the few dates I was going on were rather few. She said she wasn't going to charge me anymore until they had more matches in my area. Wonderful!! Somebody who actually listened! Unfortunately, she moved on and I got another new dating coordinator. I informed her of what the agreement was when she tried to set me up with a date who was 2 hours away with children (I wish I was kidding) and I wanted to keep the agreement where I wasn't going to be charged until there was a match in my area. She said fine, we'd be in touch. i was happy. I really thought they were going to actually try now!!!

About 6 months passed when I called to see what was going on with my file. I'm a very busy medical professional and had spent some time vacationing in Europe and around the U.S. I spoke with a different coordinator who told me her manager and I had apparently spoke and I had agreed that I was done with IJL and deactivated my file. Hmmmmm. Nope. I never heard from the company. I asked when this phone call had taken place and she told me the date. Funny thing is the date the call had happened, I was vacationing in Europe for 3 weeks!! So. I'd like to know how we talked. Furthermore, if she really did call me, I would have informed her I was going to be moving to California and if she'd be able to set me up with the service out there. She then told me "Well, we tried to set you up with good matches." Not quite sure what a good match is in there eyes....... I told the coordinator of like to speak to this person and it's been over a month with no call from her.

Lengthy, I know. But please whatever you do, stay away from this disaster of a service!! They honestly just want your money and don't care. And. They clearly lie not only to you but make up some interesting stuff to sell you these dates. I had heard this from a few of the dates I went with Its just not worth it

They were just sued by a group of women in New York for the multiple lies they would tell them.

IJL is a scam! Do not sign up or pay this company any amount of money. I paid over 5K.
Can't believe I fell for this. They seemed so professional until they received my payment. It went down hill from there. I was set up with exactly the opposite kind of people i requested. After a really bad date, they extended my membership free for 1 month, but guess what? No dates. I am sure they will come up with a date right before my membership expires and try to talk me into extending my membership. I would not extend even if they paid me. IJL should be shut down.
