Las Vegas shopping/ Las Vegas (Part 3)

Oct. 10, 2018: I emailed Cham to go on a cruise.

Oct. 11, 2018: I emailed my 1st restaurant job to see if I could get off work in Dec.

Oct. 12, 2018: I went to Edmonton Travel and asked a woman who worked there about cruises.

I showed her my list:

To go on a cruise:

1. 1 week
2. No passport
3. Lots of shows
4. Restaurants
5. Shopping

The travel agent told me that I needed a passport to get on a cruise even if it's to Alaska.

WHAT’S IT LIKE TO CRUISE?

Flexibility to enjoy your vacation however you wish.

From couples to families to friends to groups, cruising allows every member of your party to choose their favourite combination of activities, entertainment and relaxation.
Freedom to easily explore worldwide destinations. Unpack just once and then relax, unwind, and enjoy the onboard activities and the variety of new destinations. Visit exciting ports of call and awake to a new location each day. Or enjoy a day at sea on the wide-open ocean.

Spacious ships with plenty of comfort and room to roam. On larger cruise ships, there are countless onboard activities, with fantastic options for entertainment, education, action and pampering.

Smaller ships offer a more intimate boutique cruising experience. Smaller ships offer a higher staff-to-guest ratio for personalized service. In addition, smaller ships are able to call at ports that the big ships cannot.

Cruising with others is memorable and now easy to book. Cruising with friends or family is a great way to have both social and alone time, as there is a variety of things to do both on board the ship and in port. Our online multi-stateroom booking process allows you to see deck plans, select each stateroom and book all of them in one transaction.

Cruise compete:

Destination
   Day 1    Vancouver, British Columbia
   Day 2    Astoria, Oregon
   Day 3    At Sea
   Day 4    At Sea
   Day 5    Los Angeles, California

Oct. 17, 2018: After work I went to Canada Place and picked up the forms.

I then asked mom for my passport.  I got the passport.

Oct. 25, 2018: After work I went to Canada Place and showed the guard my passport to see if I can get the renewal faster.  He told me I still had to fill out info.

I emailed Yoshi and Anwar at work as two people who can verify my identity.

Dec. 26, 2018: A couple of weeks ago, I was told I had to get new passport photos and get the guarantor to sign it.

Or: get a new guarantor to sign it.

Feb. 3, 2019 Why I never travelled: It was mainly because it was so expensive.

CURIOS LAS VEGAS SHOPPING

ABOUT CURIOS

For the well being of our guests and team members, Curios is currently closed. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The Cromwell’s retail shop, Curios is way beyond your average gift shop. Its unique Las Vegas shopping vibe feels like a 1940s train stop with its high-vaulted ceilings, leather adorned walls, newspaper-print tile and distressed wooden planks. But the merchandise is far from dated.

Curios offers an eclectic mix of the world’s hottest brands, as well as some obscure items you won’t see anywhere else on the Strip.

Here you’ll find accessories, notebooks, plates and coasters based on Deborah Anderson’s photography. Think Marie Antoinette meets modern times. Other popular brands include Tokyo Milk bath products, Papaya accessories and stationery, Ray Ban glasses and Nixon watches.

If you’re looking for one-of-a-kind souvenirs, Curios makes your Vegas shopping trip easy. Surprise your friends back home with chess piece candles paying homage to the original “Alice in Wonderland” art. This shop also offers super-suave manly gifts, like modern-day top hats, flasks and grooming items like gin and tonic-scented mustache wax.

Curios also carries wine, gourmet snacks, chocolate, vintage jewelry, vinyl records and plenty of unexpected items.

The merchandise and atmosphere is as unique as the hotel itself.

Jun. 29, 2021 Why go to Las Vegas?: It was probably because I was watching the Tyra Banks talk show in 2006.  She interviewed Celine Dion who was performing there.  (I'm not a fan of hers.)  She interviewed Carrot Top.  (I'm not a fan of his either.)

She goes shopping and showed the place.  This seems really fun with the shopping, shows, and restaurants and buffets.

Las Vegas: Does anyone remember this TV show?  I saw the pilot and a few episodes after that.  However, it didn't really make me want to go there.

Las Vegas (TV Series 2003–2008) - IMDb

Why didn't you go to Las Vegas any other time in the last several years?:

2006-2008: I was in Professional Writing at MacEwan.

2008-2012: My main goal was to become a TV writer and producer from 22 yrs -27 yrs old.

2013-2015: My main goal was working at an office job.

2016: I was taking driving lessons for like 4 months and working.

2017-2019: I was let go from my 2nd restaurant job at the beginning of 2017 because I kept asking if I can go work at my 1st restaurant job.

Lesson: If you are already scheduled at one place, don't call the 1st job to ask if you can go work at your other 2nd job.

I did get hired in the fall 2019 at my 2nd restaurant job.

I was mainly about achieving my goals.  However, I could have went to Vegas any time.

The last time I went on a vacation was in 2012.  I went to Calgary to see my extended family for a few days.

I have fun in Edmonton and go to Meetups.  I watch TV and read.

This week's theme is about Las Vegas:

Las Vegas on a Budget/ Las Vegas (Part 1)

My week:

Jun. 28, 2021 "Amazon to open robot-enabled warehouse near Edmonton": Today I found this on CBC News:

Amazon says it plans to open a new warehouse in Alberta that will use robotics to help pick, pack and ship small items such as books, electronics and toys.

The company says the warehouse will create more than 1,000 full- and part-time jobs.

The warehouse is to be built in Parkland County, Alta., west of Edmonton, and is expected to open next year.

Amazon says the robotic smart systems will help employees in their tasks at the warehouse.

Last week, Amazon said it will purchase power from a massive new solar farm in Alberta, marking the e-commerce giant's second renewable energy investment in Canada.

Amazon signed a deal to buy up to 400 MW of electricity from Travers Solar, a $700-million, 465-MW project southeast of Calgary.

How to make your own air conditioner: I was on Edmonton Free Stuff private Facebook group:

1. Have a bowl of ice cubes.

2. Put it behind the fan.

Now here's your homemade air conditioner.  I told this to my family and mom already knew that.

Jun. 24, 2021 "They had a fleeting romance — and a son he didn't know about. 50 years later, they're back together": This is a really good and amazing love story.

This is written by Padraig Moran. Produced by Alexa-Chanelle Lauzo on CBC News:

In the summer of 2017, Robin Pitt Taylor got a Facebook message from Karen Paul — a woman he didn't recognize — asking if he was the man she knew at 19.

The Sutton, Que., resident racked his brain, and then it hit him: they had gone on two dates when they both lived in Montreal — some 50 years ago.

"I wrote back, and said, 'Yes, I'm that Robin, how are you?'" he told The Current.

The next message left him on the floor.

'''Your son has found his birth mother, me, and now wants to know … who the birth father is, and it's you.'"

The pair had enjoyed a short-lived romance in 1967, but lost contact after Karen became pregnant. She never told him about the baby, or that she had given him up for adoption.

My opinion: They got back together and will get married.  Aww...

Jun. 29, 2021 Hot weather: Last week was like 30 degrees and up.  This week is the same.  I only sit outside in my backyard in the morning.

My family and I have mainly been sitting in the basement where it's cool.

Jul. 2, 2021 Clue remake: I was thinking about that movie Clue. I saw that twice on TV in my teens.  I bought the DVD in 2005 when I was 20 on Amazon.

I remember going to my friend Heather's house and playing the board game with her.  I was 11 yrs old.

I also liked reading the books back in elementary school.

There's going to be a remake.  I may watch this.
