Stand up against abuses in Turkey

I got this from Amnesty International:

Dear Tracy,

Turkish citizens continue to be beaten, unjustly detained, and abused by police forces amid massive protests.

Amnesty International's office, located in the heart of the Istanbul protest zone, was open 24 hours a day at the start of the demonstrations. Volunteer doctors used the office to treat injured protestors and Amnesty staff and volunteers risked their personal safety to ensure that the world receives accurate information about what is happening in Turkey.

Make an urgent donation to support Amnesty's work.

Turkish officials say police are acting in line with human rights standards, but we have witnessed disgraceful treatment of peaceful protestors -- including indiscriminate beatings, use of water cannons, and tear gas canisters fired directly into human bodies.

Amnesty International is mobilizing human rights supporters around the world to demand an end to excessive force and other abuses.

We will continue our work as long as necessary -- support our efforts to defend human rights with your donation to Amnesty International today.

In solidarity,

Howard Eissenstat
