Share your passion for human rights on Valentine's Day
You can stand beside the women of Zimbabwe this Valentine’s Day.
UPDATE:
WOZA members arrested, released, following march
Your support is making a difference
Thanks in part to support that Amnesty Canada members have already sent through this year's Roses for WOZA appeal, WOZA held a large march on Feb. 7th to voice their concerns about ongoing human rights abuses in Zimbabwe.
WOZA leader Jenni Williams and 8 other WOZA members were arrested and held for more than 24 hours before being released, vowing to continue their work for women's rights in Zimbabwe.
Jenni Williams was the guest of honour at Amnesty International’s 2011 Annual General Meeting in May.
Join us to send her and all members of WOZA a special Valentines Day card in support of women's rights in Zimbabwe.
Women of Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA) is a group of over 80,000 women’s human rights defenders across Zimbabwe. Every year on Valentine’s Day, they march through the streets to hand out roses and demand one simple thing from their government: respect.
Purchase a rose for WOZA and women’s human rights this February 14th.
Your support goes directly to WOZA to help them organize demonstrations, pay for legal costs, and provide care for their members. WOZA members have told us that “your efforts send the message that we are not alone and that the world is watching.”
Amnesty International stands behind the work of WOZA and knows that support from people like you contributes to the safety of these courageous women.
With your help, we can send a strong message of solidarity and support to WOZA members.
Please buy a rose today!
Thank you,Alex
