Thank you!
Dear Tracy,Thank you for demanding the retrial and release of Huseyin Celil! This action helps to pressure Chinese authorities to ensure better conditions for Huseyin and take steps to release him from prison so he can return to his family in Canada.
Now that you’ve taken action to help Huseyin, there are 4 other ways for you to get involved further in Amnesty International’s annual Write for Rights on Human Rights Day, December 10th!
1) SHARE ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Use your social media channels to raise awareness about Huseyin Celili's case and tell friends and family to take action to help free him!
2) SELFIE SUPPORT - TAKE A PHOTO WITH THE HASHTAG #LettersSaveLives
Show your solidarity with Huseyin Celil and other Human Rights Defenders by taking a photo with the hashtag #LettersSaveLives. Your photo will appear on our campaign page www.letterssavelives.com along with our celebrity supporters!
3) PLEDGE TO WRITE A LETTER FOR HUSEYIN – SIGN UP FOR AMNESTY’S WRITEATHON
Sign up to Write for Rights on International Human Rights Day and plan to write, sign petitions, share activity for Huseyin and 9 other high priority Amnesty International cases. Add your voice to thousands of others who are campaigning for our 2014 Write for Rights cases
4) INVITE A FEW FRIENDS TO WRITE FOR RIGHTS WITH YOU
Invite some friends over, head to a café, join your faith group or mobilize your workplace, community or school to help others join in on our write-a-thon. Hosting an event is a great way to take the letters you write and multiply its effects by providing a space for your community to take action in this year’s Write4Rights!
5.) HELP US DISTRIBUTE A POSTCARD PETITION FOR HUSEYIN
We've produced a postcard petition to help gather signatures of Canadians who stand behind the rights of Huseyin Celil. If you have a means of distributing these in your community, school, faith community, please contact us writeathon@amnesty.ca. indicating the number you'd like. These will be mailed back to Amnesty and we'll present these to the authorities in China.
Thank you for speaking out!
Sincerely,Alex Neve, Secretary General
Amnesty International, Canadian Section
