You can make Human Rights Day something to celebrate by setting aside a part of your day to do something simple and meaningful for someone who needs your help.
Here - in 5 easy steps - is how you can participate in the world's biggest human rights event, Write for Rights:
1. Sign up. Choose to join Write for Rights on your own OR with friends- TODAY is the last day to have a KIT and other resources mailed - You can also search for a Write for Rights event near you
2. Pick your cases for letter-writing Select your cases for letter-writing from our 10 priority cases - or sign our 4 electronic petitions on:- Blogger, Raif Badawi, sentenced to 1000 lashes in Saudi Arabia- Canadian Huseyin Celil, detained in China- Stolen Sisters, murdered and missing aboriginal women- Survivors of the Bhopal in India, world's worst corporate disaster
3. Spread the word That we can celebrate our human rights by taking action- spread the word following our social media tips- take a selfie photo and share it on www.letterssavelives.com - fundraise by asking friends to sponsor you
4. Take action on International Human Rights Day! Get out your pens on December 10th and write! Sign and share our epetitions, light a candle, wear an Amnesty shirt, follow our website messages and tweets, and celebrate human rights.
5. Report back - we'll post a counter on our website and add our totals to Amnesty's global letter count. Our target is to surpass last year's total of 2.3 million actions from 140 countries. But the real objective is to achieve freedom, justice and more human rights successes stories.
