Call for justice for Ali Aarrass and investigation of his torture
Ali Aarrass, a Belgian-Moroccan citizen, was brutally tortured and unjustly imprisoned following his deportation to Morocco in 2010.
The UN
Human Rights Committee warned the Spanish government that Ali Aarrass
would face torture and an unfair trial if he was extradited to Morocco.
They were right. Moroccan intelligence held Ali Aarrass in secret
detention during which he was allegedly beaten, burned, subjected to
electric shocks, and suspended for long periods by his wrists.
Ali smuggled this sketch out of prison to show the harsh torture he endured.
Translation: Pulling from both sides and hitting the legs and the [private] parts with a whip

This unbearable pain continued for 12 long days. Tortured to get him to talk, to ‘confess’, he said anything to stop the pain.
Ali Aarrass now faces years in prison after a conviction based solely on a confession extracted under torture. The UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention has called for his release.
Please take action now to demand justice for Ali Aarrass and call on the Moroccan authorities to properly investigate his torture.
