Aug. 30: I noticed I haven't been pursuing my writing career as much.  I can tell by looking at my blogs and seeing the dates.  It doesn't really help with writer's block all the time, but it does get me thinking about writing and it inspires me.

Going through these Two Bits emails is good.  I read a lot of discussions and deleted a lot of old emails.  Cleaning out my emails is good.  I feel good to do something different that I haven't done in awhile.

Writing tip: I was on Two Bits writing group on Linked In and found this:

Tamara Rager: Writers are like beef, their words are worth more per pound after they have been slaughtered. So share, edit, revise and rewrite.

Dramatic agents: From the Two Bits group, I learned I need to find a dramatic agent to promote my script.

Publishing: I read the books section in my newspapers.  I read the articles about self-publishing, digital publishing, ebooks.  Did you know that Fifty Shades of Grey was a self-published book and then it grew in popularity due to word of mouth?  I haven't read it.

Poetry Institute of Canada: I mentioned earlier that I got my short story "Chase" published by the Poetry Institute of Canada.  The anthology is called From Across the River.  I got in Jan. of this year, and read very little of it.  Now this month I started reading it. 

I feel good reading it.  There are a lot of good stories in here.

Sept. 4 Producers: Today is my day off so I pitched my The Vertex Fighter script to a producer.  I found him a few days ago.  I also emailed another producer if they have any new projects.  They have emailed months ago to contact them in Sept.

I went on Linked In to add the first producer into my network.  I also joined the group Angel Investors where TV producers are in it. 

iUniverse.com: I found this ad for the self-publishing company called iUniverse in The Writer's Chronicle.  The ad has a picture of crumpled up pieces of paper in a garbage can and the words "The next great American Novel?"

I don't really want to write a book.  Maybe an anthology of short stories and poems.  I haven't written any of that since I was in college for my Creative Writing and Creative Non-fiction class.  I have kept some stories that are in a drawer, and some on my blog.  I got a two short stories and a poem published from the Poetry Institute of Canada.

Writing for the screen is in my area of interest.

There must be a law of attraction working, because later today I was looking up an Amazon article, and there was an ad for iUniverse.

Rejected books: Florine Church sent me this article called "40 Famous Manuscripts that were Rejected at First."  Some included Harry Potter, Twilight, and The Princess Diaries.  Some books were self-published first before a publishing company took it.

Amazon studios: I was going through my newspaper clippings and found this from May 3, 2012.  It's about the internet company Amazon that is developing comedy and kids TV shows and distribute it over the video's streaming service.  Here's an article about it:

My question is: "Where do I pitch to them?"  I'm looking for an email address and I found this blog instead.

The Bitter Script Reader: This is a guy who works a script reader for years, and he is writing about how the Amazon company is scamming writers out of their money:

 "-- umm, so writers submit work to a company, and the company abides by the terms of the agreement and there is absolutely NOTHING to suggest they are going to rip off the writers in monetary terms, but that is somehow chilling?"

He's a prolific writer because he has 20 posts a month up.  I'll bookmark his blog.  So it looks like I won't be pitching to Amazon.  I don't have a comedy or a kids show idea, but I would like to know who to pitch to.  I'll look at other companies.

Sept. 5: The producer I pitched to emailed me back and we're connected on Linked In now.  That balances out the other producer who said they didn't have any projects.

The Writer's Union of Canada: I was going through Two Bits Linked In group, and it mentioned this.  It says "The national organization of professionally published book authors."  There are contests, but you have to send $29 for an entry fee to submit to them.

Sept. 6 Pitch package: I found this piece of paper where I wrote about creating a pitch package for The Vertex Fighter.  It mentioned that I'm supposed to put the MMA fighter Kit Cope's bio in it since he's attached to the project.

On the same paper, it said:

1. Get a production assistant job.
2. Demanding, fast paced restaurant job would fit into a TV studio job.

In 2008, I did a job interview at a TV production company.  In 2009, I wrote down in my agenda to do that.  Now I wrote it down in 2011.  It's in 2012, I really pushed it and applied to those.  I'm going back in my mind of how I didn't apply so much. 

In 2011, I did start The Vertex Fighter blog and read and took notes on how to produce a TV show, and put those notes on the blog.
