but execs on Wednesday were still touting the strength of the three dramas.
When boasting about its top performers from the 2024-25 season, all three shows were given shout-outs by CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach.
But the net still opted not to renew
The Equalizer for a sixth season,
Most Wanted for a seventh season,
and International for a fifth
as part of its pickups for 2025-26 that included
eight new shows
and 18 returning ones.
“It’s not easy to end shows
and we had a lot of options this year,”
Reisenbach told reporters Wednesday.
“The schedule is really full and so we always have to
look at all of our shows,
look at the aggregate information,
the creative of where they are in their life cycle,
what the finances look like,
what the ratings are,
and then we make those tough decisions.”
Sunday’s episode of The Equalizer served as a series finale.
There is no plan by Universal Television to shop the show.
The series finale of FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International airs on May 20.
“We love working with Dick Wolf and we’re so excited to bring CIA onto the schedule,”
Reisenbach continued of their new drama starring Tom Ellis.
“We have to be fiscally responsible and ultimately,
those deals and the shows just weren’t penciling out for us from an economic perspective.
But we want to be in the business with Dick. We’re excited to launch a new two-hour block next season.”
When asked if there was even the smallest chance that they would reconsider the cancellation of S.W.A.T., Reisenberg said no.

CBS is introducing a fall schedule with only two half-hour comedies. It is believed to be an all-time low for the network.
The lineup also includes four franchise blocks:
FBI on Mondays,
NCIS on Tuesdays,
Fire Country on Friday and,
with an asterisk, a Robert & Michelle King one on Thursday.
MIAs are Ghosts and Matlock, which had been fall staples since their launches — they are being held for midseason
— as well as NCIS: Origins.
New next season are dramas
NCIS: New York,
Cupertino
and Einstein.
Here is the schedule, followed by brief analysis and descriptions of CBS’ new 2026-27 series.
In presenting the fall schedule, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach touted
“a strong foundation of returning hits who are early in their cycle.”
That is exemplified by Tracker, in its third year,
and freshman Marshals, which alternate as No.1 most watched broadcast series each week.
They are staying put on Sunday behind 60 Minutes.
“We have a triple threat and are not going to mess with perfection,” Reisenbach said.
Also coming back is CBS’ 2025-26 Friday lineup of
Fire Country
and Boston Blue,
with Reisenbach noting the network’s stronghold on the night as No. 1 in viewers for the past 16 years.
Ditto for Wednesday’s Survivor and The Amazing Race duo, the latter again doing one cycle a season.
Gone is the Monday comedy block of departing The Neighborhood and canceled DMV.
Their 8 PM hour is being taken over by FBI, followed by CIA — each sliding up an hour — followed by Harlan Coben’s Final Twist.
Asked about the reduced number of half-hour comedies on the schedule,
Reisenbach noted that some hourlong CBS series have comedic elements,
including Elsbeth, which switched from drama to comedy at the Emmys this year,
and the new crime procedural Einstein starring Matthew Gray Gubler, launching in midseason.
“We feel like CBS will continue to have a lot of laughs on our schedule,” Reisenbach said. “We’re continuing to develop comedies as well.”
Tuesday is staying an NCIS-branded night.
Instead of NCIS: Sydney, NCIS at 8 PM
and NCIS: Origins at 10 PM
will be sandwiching a new spinoff, NCIS: New York, headlined by LL Cool J, reprising his NCIS: LA character Sam Hanna, and Scott Caan.
NCIS: Sydney will be back in midseason, taking over Origins‘ slot as the NCIS prequel will have a reduced order for next season.
Despite all the similarities between Ghosts and new single-camera comedy series Eternally Yours, from the same showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, CBS opted to launch the freshman behind the multi-camera Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage on Thursday.
Reisenbach explained the decision with the Young Sheldon offshoot being the top comedy on broadcast.
Also, “Georgie & Mandy is a show about family, Eternally Yours is also a show about family,” she said.
“We want to give our new shows the best launch pad possible, and we think this is going to be a really formidable pairing.”
As for Ghosts, it still will produce a full-season 22 episode, she said. That includes Halloween and Christmas specials.
The size of Matlock‘s order is TBD.

NCIS: NEW YORK

CUPERTINO
A David vs. Goliath legal drama set in the heart of Silicon Valley that follows a lawyer (Mike Colter) who is being cheated out of his stock options by his former employer, a tech startup.
Refusing to back down, he joins forces with another recently fired attorney (Rachel Keller) to represent those taken advantage of by the tech elite and help them fight back in a high-stakes battle against the Goliaths controlling Silicon Valley.
CUPERTINO is produced by CBS Studios. Robert and Michelle King will serve as executive producers and co-showrunners under their King Size Productions banner, with Robert directing the premiere episode. Liz Glotzer and Sam Hoffman also serve as executive producers.
2026-27 MIDSEASON SERIES
EINSTEIN
Einstein stars Matthew Gray Gubler as Lewis Einstein, the brilliant but directionless great grandson of Albert Einstein. He spends his days as a comfortably tenured professor until his reckless antics land him in trouble with the law and he is pressed into service helping a local police detective (Melissa Fumero) solve her most puzzling cases.
EINSTEIN is produced by CBS Studios. Andy Breckman serves as showrunner, with Breckman, Randy Zisk, Michael Rauch, Tariq Jalil, Rose Hughes, Rodrigo Herrera Ibarguengoytia and Laura Beetz serving as executive producers. Matthew Gray Gubler also serves as a producer.
My opinion:
NCIS: New York: I won't be watching this because I never watched any of the NCIS.
LL Cool J went from NCIS: LA to New York.
Scott Cann was on Hawaii Five -O and Alert: Missing Persons Unit, so he's typecast.
I saw the pilot and few eps of Hawaii Five -O, but I wasn't really that interested in it.
I watched all 3 seasons of Alert: Missing Persons Unit. The show was average, and I mainly watched this during the summer time when there aren't any scripted shows to watch.
Eternally Yours: I will check out the pilot. I don't really like sitcoms.
Cupertino: I will check out the pilot. I don't really like legal dramas.
I have seen Mike Colter from Evil when it was on CBS. When it moved to Paramount +, I didn't watch it.
Einstein: I will definitely watch the pilot. I will probably record the series and watch it all in a week.
Melissa Fumero played a cop on Brooklyn Nine -Nine and she plays one here.
I mainly watching this show for Matthew Gray Gubler.
He was Dr. Spencer Reid on Criminal Minds.
