Aug. 9, 2025 "A decade after losing her sight, a B.C. woman can see again — through her tooth": Today I found this article by Jacqueline Gelineau on CBC.  This is really good and happy news.


After 10 years without sight, a Victoria, B.C., woman saw her partner's face and her dog's wagging tail this year for the very first time, thanks to a tooth surgically implanted into her eye socket. 

Gail Lane, 75, was one of three Canadians to undergo the rare tooth-in-eye surgery, technically called osteo-odonto keratoprosthesis, in February.

Lane lost her sight ten years ago due to complications from an auto-immune disorder that caused scarring to her corneas.

In the weeks that followed the complex two-part surgery, she gradually regained her ability to see.

First, Lane said, she was able to see light. Then, she could see movement and the wagging tail of Piper, her partner's service dog, became perceptible.

He said the surgery begins by removing a tooth from the patient's mouth. 

The tooth is then implanted into their cheek for several month, until it is encompassed in strong connective tissue.

Both the tooth and connective tissue are then removed, 

and a plastic focusing telescope or lens is inserted into it.

Feb. 24, 2025 "‘It’s absolutely mind blowing’: Canada’s first tooth-in-eye surgery could restore North Vancouver man’s vision": Today I found this article by Shannon Paterson on CTV:


Brent Chapman was 13 years old when he took two ibuprofen tablets during a basketball tournament and had a severe allergic reaction known as Stevens-Johnson syndrome. He fell into a coma, and when he awoke a month later, he was blind.

“I think I’ve had 10 corneal transplants now in 20 years,” said Chapman, who works as a massage therapist in North Vancouver.

He’s having another procedure on Thursday that he hopes will restore his sight. It’s called tooth-in-eye surgery, and it sounds like science fiction.

“In essence, we are trying to really just replace a clear window on the front of the eye. And the tooth is the perfect structure to hold a focusing piece of plastic or a telescope for the patient to see through,” said Dr. Greg Moloney, a corneal surgeon who perfected the two-part procedure in his native Australia and moved to Vancouver in 2021.



My opinion: I like this article and I hope this will restore people's visions.  If not all their vision, some of it.




Aug. 12, 2025 "This woman found $1,000 left behind at an ATM in London, Ont. What would you do?": Today I found this article by Travis Dolynny on CBC:

It's not every day you find $1,000 in cash, especially in a bank machine.

But that's exactly what happened to Annie Rawdah. The London, Ont., real estate agent said she was at a drive-through ATM on Wonderland Road South on Sunday afternoon when she noticed cash sitting in the machine.

"At first I didn't know how much it was," said Rawdah. "I thought, I'll just go inside and give it back to the bank. But it was closed — it was about 4:30 p.m."

She said she didn't want the next person in line to take it, so she withdrew her own money, kept the receipt for the timestamp, and left with the $1,000 to return it later.

"I knew I would need the time on my receipt to help the bank figure out who it belongs to. This way, they can easily identify the person."

That night, Rawdah posted about the find on two local Facebook groups, hoping the owner might see it. While no one came forward immediately, she said the reaction online surprised her.

"Everybody was saying, 'We can't believe people like you still exist.' I didn't think it was a big deal — it's just returning money that doesn't belong to you. But apparently, people were really shocked."

What would you do if you found $1,000?

The person who inadvertently left the money in the ATM is roofer Mohamad Allo.

Allo said he'd pulled away from the ATM without the cash that he'd gone to get. 

"I couldn't believe it," he said. When he went to the bank the next day, he was told to wait to see if someone returned the the money. He thought the chances were about 50/50. 

"I came to the bank and the lady said that 20 minutes ago, a person came asking for his $1,000, and asked them to investigate and check the cameras, and they told him there is nothing they can do unless the person who found it returns the money," she said.

Rawdah handed in the cash and said the bank told her the money would be returned to him.

"If you find money that doesn't belong to you and you can return it, please do," she said. "You can't build your own happiness on someone else's pain."

Allo was relieved and grateful. He wanted to give Rawdah a gift, but she didn't want anything in return. 



My opinion: Awww... what a positive story about a good deed.  I would return the money too because that is a lot.

When I worked at my Hotel Restaurant job, a woman left her purse at the restaurant.  I found it it and I told my manager.  We went to the Lost and Found and gave it to them.

The next day a white woman in her 50s and 60s thanked me for finding her purse.  She gave me $40.  I accepted it.




Sat. Aug. 9, 2025 My birthday dinner: My family and I went out to eat at the Wokkery.  The quality of food was good as usual.  We ordered:

Shrimp and vegetable:


Deep fried shrimp with peaches and mayonnaise

Beef, vegetables and tofu soup  



I acted like today was my birthday.  My actual birthday is on Mon. Aug. 11.

I went to downtown.

I watched my recorded show FBI.
