At the
of food banks
This week is National Volunteer Week (April 6- 12th), a time to celebrate the 13.3 million amazing volunteers across Canada.
Among
these volunteers are the dedicated individuals that are working
tirelessly each and every day to provide much needed food and support to
people in your community.
Volunteers like Margaret
Margaret
is a perfect example of a dedicated and selfless volunteer that
supports her local food bank. Volunteering 3 days a week for over 15
years, she helps to run her local food bank in Toronto, Ontario. From
shopping for food, sorting donated food and filling the shelves, to
helping with administrative work in the office - Margaret has done it
all with a smile on her face.
We would like to give a big THANK YOU to Margaret and all the wonderful volunteers who work so hard to make their communities a better place for everyone.

Your Stone Soup...
Ruth,
a Food Banks Canada donor, recalls these words spoken by her mother
years ago as a young child, on a day they helped a stranger:
Thank you Ruth for sharing your own Stone Soup story with us!

Offer an Extra Helping in April
This April, it’s easy to support your local food bank when you do your grocery shopping at a Loblaw banner store.
Loblaw’s 2014 Spring Extra Helping Campaign is taking place across Canada from April 4-24.
You can help feed families in your community by donating food or funds during your weekly grocery shop.
