My week:

Feb. 19, 2025 "Walmart slapped higher prices on 1L milk cartons than permitted by Manitoba law": Today I found this article by Ian Froese on CBC:

Walmart Canada was recently selling one-litre cartons of milk in Manitoba stores for higher prices than provincial law allows.

The grocery chain was spotted at provincial stores and online selling one litre of Beatrice milk for $2.88, despite the province limiting the price to a maximum of $2.03 for 2% milk and $1.97 for 1% milk.

Kate Kehler, an advocate for people with low incomes, said Walmart owes its customers an explanation.

"It's a large chain. They ought to know the rules," said Kehler, executive director of the Social Planning Council of Winnipeg.

"And if they don't, they need to find out how that how that happened."

Walmart apologized on Wednesday "for any inconvenience," saying an error occurred on Feb. 13 "when executing a price change in our system."

The chain also said customers impacted by the mistake can receive refunds for the extra amount they paid if they return their milk to the store with their receipt. They can contact the Customer Care team at 1-800-328-0402 if they have questions.

Kehler said the Social Planning Council of Winnipeg noticed in 2022 that a 7-Eleven location was charging too much for one-litre milk cartons. It brought the issue to the store's attention and the price was reduced.

Feb. 15, 2025 Valentine's Day sale: My parents went to Wal- Mart and my mom bought a lot of Valentine's Day chocolates.

I bought the box of 100 pieces Nestle (Coffee Crisp, Kit Kat, Aero, and Smarties) on Nov. 1, 2024 at Shoppers Drug Mart, for the Halloween sale.  I ate about 60% of the candy right now.

Feb. 16, 2025 Community League social gathering: I went there this morning.

I ate 4 cookies from Bloom Cookies.

I also had a cup of hot chocolate with chocolate whipped cream and icing and sprinkles from Second Cup.  The hot chocolate was average.

There were mainly parents with kids who are 7 yrs old and younger. There was coloring on big pages and making beaded bracelets.
I went over to these 2 women without kids. They were mother Sylvia and daughter Kimberly. They were here for the snacks. Me too. I was there for 30 min.
I'm interested in TV so I usually ask this.
Tracy: So what TV shows do you watch?Sylvia: Fire Country.Tracy: Do you like it for the action?Sylvia: Yeah.
The Mustard Seed Thrift Shop: I found this and went there last week.

When you choose to shop at The Mustard Seed, either in-store or online, you can shop knowing your purchase has made a difference! Not only are you supporting those in need by providing access to employment resources, but you are actively reducing landfill waste by shopping second-hand.

Good Cop/ Bad Cop: This show is on the CW and I don't have access to that channel.  I found out I have USA network for free preview on Telus, so I may be able to watch 2 episodes.

"Siblings working as detectives in a small town navigate quirky locals, limited resources, their strained relationship, and their father, who's the police chief, in this comedic crime procedural."

My opinion: I saw the pilot and thought it was average.  If you like comedy, you can check this out.

Suits LA: This show is coming out on Sun. Feb. 23.  This is on NBC.  I'll check out the pilot, but I don't know if I'll watch more eps.

"Follows a new group led by Ted Black, a former New York prosecutor who built an L.A. law firm that specializes in criminal and entertainment law."

Grosse Garden Pointe Society: This show is coming out on Sun. Feb. 23.  This is on NBC.  This looks interesting:

"Follows four members of a suburban garden club, as they get caught up in murder and mischief, as they strive to flourish."
