Dec. 28, 2015 "Time to know your worth, creatives": I cut out this article by Julie Tyios in 24 News on Dec. 5, 2011. It listed these careers by The Working Group that says these are in-demand in Canada. Here's the e-edition:
Information architect: An information Architect provides positive user experience by planning and designing the information structure for websites and web applications. This position focuses on the target audience, the technologies that are used to create the sites and the actual information on the site. An Information Architect will organize information and design strategies using data from usability testing on how users interact with a company’s communications systems.
Information Architects must be able to translate user behavior into media structure, craft interactive experiences, produce workflow diagrams and other production materials, as well as organize information into site maps, to name few job duties. They also must be able to coordinate with Web Producers and creative and production departments to implement their strategies. An understanding of web production software, such as Visio, Dreamweaver, Office and Photoshop is required.
A degree in information technology, MIS or Engineering is generally preferred for the Information Architect position. A strong portfolio is also considered beneficial.
My opinion: It seems like graphic design. I would have to get a degree in this and I'm not that passionate about it.
Interactive Marketing Director:
Job Duties: The interactive marketing director could be a new position in some firms; in others, it is a well-established role. Typical responsibilities include planning, developing, managing and executing initiatives to grow market share through finding new customers and increasing loyalty among existing customers. Identifying new user channels to increase engagement is another typical job duty for the interactive marketing director. Testing, measuring and refining marketing efforts, building brand awareness and improving the user experience are additional ways interactive marketing directors help organizations meet objectives. Employing new measuring methods, such as web analytics, increasing search engine optimization (SEO), and directing social marketing efforts are also typical activities for these marketing professionals.
Education and Training Requirements
Most interactive marketing director jobs require at least a bachelor’s degree; many employers prefer to hire candidates with experience or advanced education, including master’s degrees.
My opinion: It seems to be very business- like.

My opinion: It's like graphic design again. I did learn how to create websites when I was at the Graphic Communications program at NAIT.
Massage therapist: I was working at my second restaurant job and I met this woman in her 50s who worked there. She said she was a massage therapist before. However, after working for a few years, your hands will start not working as well because you put so much pressure and weight on it.
