"Demon baby" ultrasound picture/ 2 journalists shot and killed

Aug. 13 "Demon baby" ultrasound picture: I found this on Yahoo news:

“Wife and I went to get a ‘4D’ ultrasound of our unborn child. Saw this picture. Changed our minds,” the note, which was originally posted on Imgur, read, along with a photo of what looks to be the demon child of Skeletor from the 80s cartoon He-man.

The frightening image shows a photo of the unborn baby with hollow eyes, fangs and a skeletal nose, looking directly at the camera with a sinister grin. The unborn baby, which is identified as a girl in another scan, also appears to be hoisting up a beer bottle.

Aug. 25 Racist apartment ad: Here are some excerpts:

A Kijiji ad to rent a three-bedroom home in Prince Albert, Sask., has been pulled after complaints of racism.

The title of the ad read, "3 bedroom east flat house, no natives please."

The text of the ad said newcomers to Canada were welcome, "but aboriginals will not be considered."

For Catherine Lemire of Saskatoon, the ad hit close to home.

Lemire and her mother, who are aboriginal, encountered racism when trying to rent a downtown Saskatoon apartment a few years ago.

Her mother, who has an accent, called to inquire about a vacancy and was told the space had been filled.

Lemire's mother then asked her to call because she does not have an accent.

"I didn't want to believe my mom. I figured it was all in her head. But I called exactly two minutes later the same number. Spoke to the same person who said there were two vacancies," said Lemire.

She hopes the Kijiji ad gets people talking about racism, which is something she has encountered all her life.

"I grew up with this type of racism and I'm just surprised that 25 years later, things haven't really changed," she said.

Man dies trying to save another man: I found this on MSN:

HONOLULU — Students at the University of Hawaii's Manoa campus were expected begin moving into dorms Tuesday, just days after a man fell to his death while trying to pull another man from a ledge at the Hale Wainani dormitory, police said.

Counselling is available for students campus-wide, and in the coming weeks, staff will be checking in on the students who were living in Hale Wainani at the time of Sunday's incident, university spokesman Dan Meisenzahl said.

The 24-year-old man who died was trying to bring inside an apparently distraught 19-year-old who went out a window, authorities said.

Christopher Hyndman dead: He was a co-host on the CBC TV show Steven and Chris.  I never really watched it because the topics didn't really interest me.  It was a shock though.

This was awhile back.  However, there is a new story that came out that Hyndman's mom believed he died while he was sleepwalking:

Aug. 26 "Dust-lady" dies:

A woman whose photograph became one of the iconic images of the 9/11 attacks has died of stomach cancer aged 42.

Marcy Borders, who was pictured covered in dust fleeing the World Trade Center in 2001, was diagnosed with the disease in 2014 which she claimed was caused from inhaling toxic air from the attack.

"I definitely believe it because I haven't had any illnesses," she had told NJ.com. "I don't have high blood pressure ... high cholesterol (or) diabetes."

Aug. 27 2 journalists shot and killed: I was in downtown and I saw this on TV about 2 journalists shot on live TV.  I was upset, but I had to go home to get to the computer.  I then decided to watch this on Youtube today.  I jumped when the gun shots came.

"WDBJ Journalist Alison Parker and Photographer Adam Ward Shot Dead During Live TV Broadcast"

Here's the article:

A pair of television journalists at a CBS affiliate in Virginia were shot and killed during a live broadcast Wednesday morning, and authorities said the shooter, a disgruntled former employee at the station, shot himself after crashing his car on an interstate highway.

The suspected gunman, identified as Vester Flanagan, a 41-year-old former WDBJ-TV reporter who went by the name Bryce Williams on air, was taken into custody with "life-threatening injuries," police said. He later died.

The victims, WDBJ reporter Alison Parker, 24, and Adam Ward, her 27-year-old cameraman, died shortly after the shooting, which occurred at approximately 6:45 a.m. at Bridgewater Plaza in Moneta, Va., near Smith Mountain Lake.

The gunman opened fire Wednesday morning as Parker was interviewing Vicki Gardner, the head of the Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce, live on the air. Gardner was shot in the back and taken to a hospital for surgery. She is listed in stable condition.

Sept. 4 Syria: I was watching a bit of The Social today.  I occasionally watch it depending on the topic.  They don't interrupt each other and they all get to talk.  They were discussing about the news of a dead toddler in Syria.  Here's some more on it:

The boy on the beach had a name. Alan. Not Alayn, with a y, the way Turkish authorities spelled it, the way media reported it after his rag-doll body washed up on a Turkish beach. He was named Alan, after his Canadian cousin. A name given like a promise. This child would have a better life.

But this child will have no life.
“I am not blaming the Canadian government,” said Tima Kurdi, through tears. “I am blaming the whole world for not helping the refugees enough.”
